Here are some pics of my S3 with often threatened change of alloys.....Finally took the plunge with a fitted cost of about 1,50 quid. I really like them and they are way easier to clean than my originals.

Looks good! They look very similar to the 19 inch exclusive forged s3 wheels that come used to come on the non black optics Magride equipped s3's.
The wheels that I am talking about are these:

They only weigh 21 lbs.
And there are a bunch of these floating around the market as most s3 owners 'upgrade' to something 'cooler'

Cooler? I think the original S3 alloys are some of the best Audi have designed.

I happen to agree with you. The only other option I would consider is a 19 inch AVUS wheel (b5 or b6 style). Wish someone made a replica version.

Those are the alloys I replaced...they are a pita to clean (the cavity behind the arms is especially difficult. Average time to clean/wash 4 was 45-60 minutes. I can do the new ones in 15-20 minutes. Plus they make the wheel look larger in diameter. Weight for each one is 25 lbs

Your car looks amazing !!! Just love Ara blue - very similar to “World Rally Blue” on my Scooby but Ara seems to have more sparkle!

Your car looks great with both sets of wheels! I considered black/polished RS6 reps from LDPrestige (Hartmanns seemed too expensive given I had to pay customs, and they weren't black), but the black ones were sold out right before I was ready to take a plunge and re-stock was scheduled on September, so I decided to buy a set of the S3 replicas (the design that you replaced) because I wanted them all the time before I even started thinking of the RS6 reps.

I thought that both designs were tough to clean. Perhaps it's a question of the right equipement/chemicals?

no chemicals for me, designated wash/wheel mitt and soapy water....the OEM are a pita due to the fact that the interior rim channel is open all the way around and therefore I had to use a small sponge on edge to clean in between/behind the 5 twin spokes and that takes patience and time, especially beside the calipers. No issue with RS6 and personally I prefer the grey/diamond finish to black

How about an adequately sized paint brush to wash the intricate areas? I find it very handy

I use this type of brush when I have to clean difficult areas. Google "wheel brush" for more options.

P.S. Did I say that I LOVE Ara Blue color?

Wheel brushes are too abrasive for me, paint brushes are OK. Take a a gander at the 19' OEM S3 wheel in question, neither will work at the area I describe.

Perhaps a soft brush will do. Anyway, I have no other choice than to try and find out how to clean them as I already bought them :)

A wheel Mitt is what you need mate, l never use a wheel brush on delicate alloys or even the normal type of alloys ...there all a bit aggressive

Did you mean this place behind the spokes? I didn't know there was such a place, to be honest. I saw it first after receiving the rim today.

That is the area, a real pita to clean.

In that case the answer is a set of these beauties, which I wouldn't be without. Kind to your wheels and pretty much stop skinned knuckles https://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/braun-automotive-wheel-woolie-set Oh, and there's an angled one too https://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/braun-automotive-spoke-back-woolie

Hope this helps!

Got them in gloss black. really love the looks but they are so difficult to clean in black. They are like vacuum cleaners haha :D

I am not a fan of all glossy black wheels but to each their own. I much prefer the machined face and matte grey finish and that matte clearcoat finish is very subtle as it reflects light evenly and are a breeze to clean. Glossy black cars look great when all buffed up but that only lasts a day at best and wheels in that colour would be even worse with brake dust etc.

I always get the fear with replica alloys so I’ve never used them. Can just picture driving along the motorway at *70* and !BANG! An alloy goes kaboom

Rolly....those replica S6 wheels I bought are not cheap they are manufactured to OEM standards in Germany (not China) and use Audi radius lug bolts and probably were manufactured in the same plant that Audi purchases from. Audi and other car manufacturers do not make alloy wheels they use BBS etc.

Yep, that area takes an age to clean, in fact you can spend more time cleaning the wheels then cleaning the whole body of the car. Most of the brushes mentioned here won't fit that area. I use the a small one that came with Autoglym custom wheel cleaner. Aside from that you can use you fingers as nothing else will fit in that area!
