Recently my wife has got a new Audi A1 2019 (GB), does anyone know for cars with standard mirrors if it is possible to do passenger mirror draw down with VCDS?

For example stick the car in reverse and the passenger mirror dips, then when putting back in to Drive it returns to normal.

I know it was possible on A3, but not sure about new Audi A1.

Thanks.

Hi,

You can do this mod with the Carista OBD2 adapter, so I would guess it can be done with VCDS.

I purchased the Carista some time again and so far its proved easy to use, less scary and a lot cheaper than buying the original Ross-Tech lead.

Good luck.

Unfortunately Carista doesn't work, there is some VCDS coding which I found for Audi A1 (GB) 2019 on a German site, but that doesnt seem to work with latest VCDS as the instructions appear slightly off. If anyone knows would be good if someone could post exact procedure, so far this is what I have tried below using latest VCDS and the newest Ross-Tech cable. Second part is where I get stuck because the drop down list doesnt say anything about (17) - access control 2-mirror lowering.

Select STG 52 (door electrical co.)
STG Long Coding -> Function 07
Byte 04
Activate bit 2
Activate bit 3

Select STG 09 (vehicle electrical system)
STG access authorization -> function 16
Enter access code 31347
STG adaptation -> function 10
(17) - access control 2-mirror lowering on return journey
Set value to active

Hi,

Looking at the Carista menu there is the option of the passenger mirror dropping on reverse, so it should work. Famous last words!

Not wanting to upset anyone, but on the first generation A1 this function only works if the mirror switch on the drivers door is positioned for the passenger window. Anywhere else, nothing happens.

Good luck

Is that not how it works on all models? Certainly only works that way on my 2018 A3.

Yes I’m sure that is the case on every model, but after shouting at the car and a number of swear words as the mod didn’t work, I realised I hadn’t moved the switch.

Definitely not the switch, tried plenty of things. Carista unfortunately didn't work just said features for this model not available. I know it works on old A1, A3 and Q3 as I had previously done it on those cars. But recently had to replace my VCDS cable with the newer USB Hex V2 because of compatibility issues.

I am having a similar issue where I try to locate the (17) - access control 2-mirror lowering in STG 09 (Vehicle Electrical System) for my Audi A1 2016 model. Have you found a solution to this please?

Hi DTL
If you look on the inside cover of your manual or in the boot the codes you have will be there so you can see what type of mirrors you will have fitted.
If your mirror don't have the memory function it will not dip. If they are just standard mirrors ie. Adjustable and heated the code will be 6XD. Adjustable, foldable and heated the code will be 6XE. Memory function, adjustable, foldable and heated the code will be 6XF. Memory function, adjustable and heated the code will be 6XG.
