I am looking for a dogbone insert for my pre FL S3. I want the least increase in NVH as possible.
When I had a mk4 GTI the done thing to do was install the Powerflex insert from the diesel. I assume because the Diesel engine vibrates more, the insert is softer. This appears to be the case when you look at the ratings on the Powerflex website; 65a vs. 75a shire.
Does anyone have any actual experience of the diesel mount in the S3?

Superpro appear to do a 70a and 80a version.

What I do remember is a new stretch bolt and torque setting is crucial.

Regards?

I have the diesel one on my diesel, performs it’s job

I have an 034 motorsport track density (for diesel)
one available for sale if you want it mate I removed it when I broke my old A3,
same as this one : https://www.awesomegti.com/034motor...wLxEi26wJuHML_AeKHSzegMjv-MEr2-AaAhw3EALw_wcB
I had it fitted to my A3 for 1 day before breaking it

I have a Powerflex insert on my S3, the petrol version mount and it’s perfect.

Cheers Martin. But think i will go for the insert for ease of fitting.

Thanks Sam, how would you say it effected the car?

I have the yellow power flex insert on my S3 and no problems with vibration. However, my son had a TTS with the same insert and he felt there was vibration.
All I can say is that I used lots of lubrication, the car was on a lift and so no twisting forces on the engine gearbox mounts by jacking up just one side of the car. I also used a new bolt and tightened it to exactly the correct torque + 90 degrees.
His was done when he had a downpipe fitted at a garage.

Think you may have hit the nail on the head. New stretch bolt and correct torque settings.

I had the softer diesel one fitted and could just feel a slight vibration on tickover - enough to warrant taking it off again. There are 2 versions for pre-facelift and facelift cars too.

I'm having the superpro fast road version fitted along with Superpro ALK and H&R ARBs end of the week.. will feed back on the engine mount insert side of things :icon thumright:

Did you manage to get the insert fitted?

Collected car following superpro insert end of last week, very impressed with it, bargain at £25.

I did also have H&R ARBs, superpro ALK, powerflex RTABs, various other suspension OEM components (ball joints & droplinks F&R) and a full alignment so as you can imagine it's like a completely different car now.

Super. Have you noticed any additional vibration in the cabin? Even with 80k on the clock it’s extremely refined when sitting idling.
Also, can you feel a difference when changing gear?

I haven't noticed any additional vibration, the car idles very smoothly, mine is on 65k.

Gear change is what I base my positive review on, I found the gear change absolutely horrendous before having it fitted, so jerky.. I tried and tried to be as smooth as possible with the pedals but the car wouldn't have it, vastly improved although not perfect with the superpro insert.

Try the shifter cable ends next. They again have a rubber bush. There are metal inserts available. But I filled mine with a silicone adhesive. They are solid. Then reset the alignment.
