Need to reset my air bag light on the dash due to whilst i was removing the glove box to fit a new handle the air bag connector was disconnected and a neighbour needed to get past my garage (car was half out for access) so i jumped in and reversed out of the way then pulled back out to carry on working

Unknown to me if you turn the ignition on with the air bag connector disconnected it will throw up a air bag fault that will need clearing

Now no one in my area on the VCDS map is replying to my message and/or haven't been online for a few years

Ive looked at the cheap OBD2 readers on Amazon/eBay etc... but after some research it seems these will only do engine related sensors not the air bag

Can anyone confirm this and point me towards one that will definitely work which costs around £20?

Not interested in buying VCDS before anyone mentions it, this is the first time in 3 years of ownership that Ive needed something like this so VCDS would be a waste of money for me

Cheers

Kev, where are you located?

Go local garage. Slip the mechanic 20 quid....

drop me a drink for the petrol and i'll meet you half way and clear it, i'm only in Guildford.

I don't mind doing a 30 min drive one way and for the cost of the petrol.

If only i had posted this on Sat Rob! went to the Surrey Hills yesterday on the MTB so could of popped in on the way back to the A3

Hogg, got a few mates who work in or own garages, when one of them connected his snap on computer to my car and checked all he could get was engine management sensors (none with faults which was good) he tried a few different screens and couldn't find anything related to the air bag

I could go to my local VAG specialist but i suspect they will charge an hourly rate

No probs, very quick and easy reset with vcds.
Did my passenger one 3 times last week when messing around with mfsw and glovebox removal.
Anyway , no prob to meet you half way for the fuel .
Good luck otherwise.

Tell him to get a better machine. My mate has a garage and his snap on machine could read all the sensors. I'm there Wednesday, I'll have a look what machine it is.
Anyways, try a bigger local garage or a Kwik fit but ask for back door prices.
