I'm just starting a build thread of my new to me Audi A4 Avant b7

Hopefully it'll be an eventful journey with some nice upgrades and addictions along the way. Below is a pic of how it Currently stands:

I have many plans....

Ahh right looks nice, lowered, 19’s, s line front bumper and tinted windows....wish my list was that short lol, bke? Is that the 1.9tdi?

That's the basic list lol

Yep 1.9tdi 115bhp. Always loved the 1.9tdi engine. Best engine VAG group ever made

That's a US spec S4 B7 , matt silver mirror covers were standard fitment on all s4's, lemans alloys look to be rs4 items judging by the deep dish centre.

Actually, isn't the BKE engine the sister engine of the rather delicate BXE engine?
Unlike the superb AWX or AVF which were the bomb proof ones.

Best engine in the B7 is the v8 , but all down to personal choice , which in my case is the BUL.

I think the bke engine is pretty much bomb proof

Right... Hopefully I have the right grill to fit at the weekend and I have ordered a clutch pedal switch as my cruise control doesn t currently work. Let's hope the switch fixes the problem.

May be true I'm not that clued up with these engines but the best engine vag have made? Id disagree that the 115hp 1.9 diesel is there best engine “ever” but as Rob said personal opinion i guess :)

Yep, very personal preference really.
Personally I wouldn't rate any of the oil burner engines as audi's best , yes they may be good for what they are but far from audi's best.
I'm a petrol head both senses, love cars and bikes etc but also love them to be petrol engines, just my choice.
Audi has made some stonking power plants for the cars , i'd be pushed to have an outright winner.

Anyway , drifted of topic a bit.

my old bus at present, from a side view the S4 door blades and 19" alloys and lowered ride height make a big difference to the appearance.

S-line bumper , oem rs grille, foglamp mesh and LCR splitter improve the front end nicely aswell, in my opinion and that's the important bit as we're all different and have our own preferences.:icon thumright:

I might have just accidentally bought some rs4 style double blade alloys off eBay in need of a refurb

: rolleyes:

I knew this car would cost me monies

One of the best would be the 20v RR .

Loved my old S2 with the 3B motor which is very similar.

Welcome to the forum, HOGG. I was seconds away from buying a black avant a couple of times before settling on my saloon. Love the look.

Anyway, you say you've ordered a clutch pedal switch in the hope that it fixes your cruise control? Common issue, but have you not diagnosed it properly? I can highly recommend https://obdeleven.com/en/ for diagnostic and coding work on these cars :) Will save you a fortune in the long run rather than relying on guess work or internet mechanics.

If you was looking at wheels then no accident has happened....its destiny mate lol

As for refurb thats code for “i get to choose what colour i want them and use refurb as an excuse to the other half” :)

Deffo need a refurb but yes. I will also get to pick the new colour.
I think silver looks good on black cars

Do your homework first with A4 B7 fitment alloys, don't make a rushed descision as it may cost you dearly afterwards.
Lemans in unmarked condition do look nice but 19" is the best dia to get .

which golf variant?
They can be 5x100 or 5x112 pcd and offset can be way off what will fit.

Mk5 golf is deffo 5x112

:whistle2:had audi TT in my head for some reason, mk4 golf is 5x100 aswell

Looks like some of the hard work has been done for me on this vehicle. Which is obviously a bonus...

My car is listed as 'seat trim covers in fabric'
Now I know the difference between fabric and leather lol

Does anybody know what seats I factually have?? I think that they could be two tone s-line leather seats whoop whoop

If they say s line embossed on the leather then there s line ones :) but tbh mate they look exactly the same to me i could be wrong though.

nope not the same leather ricky, yours look to be valcona , much more supple nappa leather , top of the range option aswell, I sold my set to pedro.

S-line embossed seats were only supplied in certain variants aswell.

Ahh ok Rob i see, well there you go hogg you learn something new everyday :) you have fabric leather seats that look like s line but there not lol, I'm so tempted to whip mine out and go all out with a set of race seats, I'm 29 and the 20’s part of my age is saying do it and the nearly 30’s part is saying no your not a youth anymore lol.

Just wack in some nice s4 recaro's , mine have turned out to be excellent , seat memory function would be the icing on the cake but still working on that bit.:yahoo:

I can allways use some more , I've too many projects on the go and it kinda drains funds more than i'd like at present, still you cant take it with you when you die so best make the most of it now..lol

Passed It's mot today

So when I bought the b7 last Sunday. The cruise home was less of a cruise because the cruise control didn't work. Today whilst having an mot, I fitted a new clutch switch. Safe to say, I did cruise home.

Thanks to the forum. That's another little fix that I learned from here...

Next up is to map or NOT to map, that is the question posed. I know all the pros for mapping but my biggest bugbear after a map is the smoke. My car currently doesn't smoke at all. Very unusual for a diesel, but is true.
Where as the wives Alfa goes like a scolded cat, it does chuck out some smoke.

So do I go slow and clear or fast and dirty?
