A7 but same gearbox so I'm asking on here, hope thats ok.
I'm doing about 50mph going around a tightish bend when all 4 wheels seemed to lock up, i felt the car slide a couple of feet then regrip! What a fright i put it down the Derv on the road. 10 minutes later it happened again driving off a large roundabout. Then i got a message Gearbox Overheating modify your driving? I was mot driving hard at all. Then i noticed when pulling away slowly the car is jumping from 3rd to 1st? Then i get a warning No Reverse Gear?
Car is 2014 3.0 TDI 40k
All gears now working after turning off then back on?
Just been back out in it pulling away 5mph feels like all 4 brakes are jamming on and locking up the wheels.
Very violent.
Its frightening- anyone offer me any suggestions please?
Thanks

Do you know anyone with VCDS who can scan the car, or if you look at the VCDS users maps you may be able to find someone local, however it does sound a a major mechanical fault which would require a gearbox specialist to fix.

Thanks, its still under warranty, so I'll go to my local Audi specialist then give the good news to the Dealer I bought it off.
Glad I had the Gearbox Oil changed 3 weeks ago by the above within schedule, might be a well spent £180 !

Who done your gearbox oil? Could be possible the oil change was done incorrectly and this is now causing you issues?

Hopefully you get it sorted mines is currently on 58k and touchwood so far so good but having no warranty does scare me a little if the worse was to ever happen

Being recovered today. Metronics unit renew approx 2-2.5 k
New gearbox 7.5k
I imagine a long fight over warranty!
I'll keep you informed

Sounds scary with the whole transmission locking up with no warning! Fingers crossed for you that the warranty is a quick fix, and not a dragged out one mate.

Metronics repair kit, new clutches + sundries and 12 hours labour £3928 Wow
Place I bought it from want it back now to see for themselves!
This might take a while!
Hoping for a courtesy car.
Hoping they will ring !

I'm sure they are covered for these things. If they have their own worksop that saves all of the Labour charges and knock off the VAT. Then I think Audi will make a donation as these Metronic units were recalled in the states but not over here. 2010-2014 as being dangerous and prone to lock up.
My car has quite low mileage so it was going to happen at one stage.
I'm just glad it was dry when it happened and I have warranty!

Posting on here as well, as the A7 forum is very quiet
Audi Independent Specialist quoted £4k.
Dealer I bought it from had it recovered back to themselves and had the work done by a Gearbox Specialist localy for £1600.
All done on warranty.
Got a 12 month guarantee on the reconditioned Mechtronic Unit.
Car is driving beautifully.
Hopefully Happy Days!

I am thinking of getting another A6 C7, had a manual last time.
The car I'm looking at is a 2013 2.0 TDi 177 bhp with a CVT and flappy paddles gearbox - is this the same gearbox?
Might just have put me off to be honest!

I dont think CVT is the same type of gearbox mate. Its a DSG type.
I'm sure Mr Google is your best bet
Flappy Paddles are a bit of a gimmick to be honest, never use mine, sport mode is better than me !
My car is running beautifully now.
They said the replacement part is updated so it wont ever go wrong again!
Silky smooth, fast changes.
Good Luck !

Aah, because I couldn't see what type of box you have - I guess you have the DSG then.

Yes DSG on mine (so glad it was covered under warranty).
I'm sure you'll be fine with your new choice . Those A6's are very nice cars.
I think the A7 shares the same interior.
