Got this 2.0 TFSi Sportback last week in pretty rare colour,

my planned list of mods are bigger wheels in black or graphite, black Audi rings in grill and maybe black wing mirrors...( all in good time).

Came with walnut trim as standard so decided to try my hand at vinyl wrap to get the modifications underway. See attached. I’m quite chuffed.

Looks good. Where did you get the wrap from? The colour looks very nice.

Looks really nice.In time, why not look at the ashtray delete with led strip, gives a much better usable space in front of the gear selector. pretty cheap too.

Hi
Yeah already on order, should be here by the weekend. Good job too because the ashtray hasn’t come out as good as the door strips and gear shift surround, it was a lot more difficult to wrap due to its shape.

I’m trying to find out if an OEM Audi sat nav unit just slots in to replace my symphony stereo and have the phone feature and have Bluetooth phone feature working from steering wheel.
Or is it (like most things) not as simple as that?

Regarding the led strip, is that additional to slotting in the storage tray? I can see the wiring and fitting for the ashtray light and wondered what to do with that.
Any advise/suggestions?
Cheers

You'd need to fit (and connect) a GPS module. When I had RNS-E I had a separate dongle connected in-place of the CD changer for bluetooth streaming but not calls IIRC. I expect you'd also need to code it in with VCDS or similar. It is worth noting that it is quite a dated unit/software now.

The alternative is a double-din aftermarket unit with GPS receiver etc. and add a dongle to allow steering wheel control or one of the Chinese OEM look Android units. There has been a lot of discussion about the later, there is at least one specific thread, YMMV.

There were a couple of different harness (think ISO) types and also unit/connection type may also vary as to whether you have BOSE, rear amped or base audio.

As said all the info is in existing threads, you just have to dig through it.

@Smudgerludge have a read through this thread. As you read through you’ll find all the part numbers etc.

As for the rns-e you can place the gps antenna under the dash which is easy and yes it’s also a straight swap but will need coding with vcds. But also even with Bluetooth connectivity you won’t get to stream music, it’s only for calls. For this reason a lot of members are moving away from oem and going with units like pioneer that have the capability of everything inc apple car play. Hope this helps.
