Last week when I started the car a update for maps popped up on the MMI screen and I stupidly accepted it. Now noticed I just have the standard awful basic maps and don’t have the option to trigger google earth.

Does anyone know how to sort this or re-download the previous update.

Been on phone to Audi 3 times on 3 separate days after being told the master tech will call me back within an hour each time. Then got told they would need my car and I said I don’t have time for that so she said she could get a technician to collect my car and do a drop off service. I then told her I do not trust Audi and they will NOT be getting my car never mind driving it.

I updated about a month ago and still have google earth.

I wonder if its possible to load an older update ? I still have the files on SD card that I could put on my dropbox if that helps u ?

Yeah that would be worth a shot and a great help, I’ll PM you my private email. Cheers

I updated using the MMI download a couple of months ago and didn’t lose mine, odd. I’d be gutted if I lost it, it’s cool and adds a bit of colour.

Audi drive the car, lmfao.. nice one.

Because I’m so used to the google earth now when I put it on and it’s the standard it looks so cheap and crap so I don’t put the screen on. I used to have the map screen on 90% of the time just for the looks aswell

I use Waze for navigation on my phone, it’s fantastic.. but still use the Audi system for shorter trips.

Using Waze out in Tenerife at the moment and it’s brilliant.

I never use it for guidance, I just like watching it go by as I drive lol

Is the car 3 years old yet? Doesn't the e-SIM sub run out after that time? If using a SIM card then it might have timed out or used all its data up.

Perhaps a reset on the mmi , might also be worth posting the map version, mmi software version so we can compare

Don't think any face lift is 3 years old yet.......if all the other connect services are there then a visit to Audi is probably the only answer, mines stopped working Thursday night but that looked like a server issue as it tried to load but couldn't, worked fine since

I heard talk on another forum about A5 owners having a firmware update which disabled the google earth view. However Audi advertised the latest map update and then pulled it, and I know they are still not available on the myaudi site, but are now available for over the air update again. I would take your car into the dealer and tell them you have lost the google earth view, as they may know of a fix.

Remember the google earth view is removed end of December 2020.

Did my north and south UK update and list Google Maps. Spoke to Audi customer support who advised it should still be working as licence in place until 2021.
They advised I needed to get it booked in and the service dept can raise a DISS with Audi to get it fixed.
So its booked in for 1st July.....will update when its been in!

Yeh I did the update, google earth not selected. Just went into options and reselected it in a hidden menu, bit dumb, but ok now

what, how come they are removing it. Surely they can’t, trade descriptions act etc

They are claiming incompatibility with the 3GP, MIB & MIB2 hardware and the new google earth overlay interface, more likely the just cannot be bothered to fix all the versions of software on all the different model of cars. However they are within their rights as it's in Audi's online services T&C's.

For the past week or so my MMI screen has been showing “acquiring licence” and a little loading bar when trying to use google earth, but it never gets past that stage...

...but as of yesterday all back to normal and loads straight away again?!

Well my Google Maps came back today!

I was messing around in the map settings on the dial and clicked 'set map view' and hey presto, the virtual cockpit and screen changed to google maps.

I have no idea if that makes any difference to setting it on the virtual cockpit, but its now changed...mental.

I am updating to the latest maps again to see if I can break it again!!

The system on this car is *****.... I lost mine several times and I can't for the life remember how, each time, I get Google Maps back. The menus are created so as you never remember how to navigate the ******* thing!
I had a 2013 S3 with a SIM card installed and could send destinations to the car, I have a 2018 RS3 and have never once got the "send to car" working!

Audi Ireland have told me that later in the year Google Earth will be removed, this is due to Google changing something, software wise, and our 2018 cars are not able to cope with the required processing!

Yes I have the new Audi App on the iPhone. It sends to the car but the car doesn't seem to receive the data. I have connected the iPhone with both cable and BT. Do I need to be connecting to the car's WiFi also..... I mean home many connections has this car got :(

My fault really as the My13 S3 worked fine and I was just too eager to take the car from the Dealer ;)

No you shouldnt need to connect you phone to the car at all for the car to recieve the destinations. On mine I send to car from the phone app and the destinations appear in the Audi Connect part of the mmi. You will need to be logged into the mmi with email/password or PIN that is displayed in the phone app.
