Hi, so I have had my first problem with my car after owning for 2 weeks now.

Got in the car and it started ok, then I thought I would try and lock the car with the key button while the car was still running to try and warm the car up, this did not work so I turned the car off and then locked it.

after about 10 minutes I returned unlocked the car and tried to start it, firstly it didn't recognisied the key saying put it near the center console where the key sign is.
I tried several times and it then worked, but the car would not start the engine , I tried and tried and gave up calling audi assist.
The guy came out plugged his laptop into the ecu and found several error codes which he cleared and then went about to see if there where any new downloads for the car which there wasn't .
He has logged it into the system which apparently is sent back to Audi who look at it to see if this has happened before on other cars .
Basically it was a software problem maybe caused by me trying to lock the doors while the car was still running.
BMW have a system where the car can be warmed up before you enter the car without unlocking any doors, my mate has it on his 5 series.
Great little feature to have in this cold snap we are having, shame on Audi not having this feature on the new A6.
Just wondered if any one else having this problem with there car.

This is the problem I had with my car which is not the same as your problem . To date this has not happened since. On a couple of occasions the pre sense and adaptive lights have come up as a fault or limited but has only happened when I am on my driveway and around 1 metre away from my front wall. It has never happened while driving . To many electrical things on these modern cars to play up !!. You could phone Audi and ask if there any updates for the car which I am sure in time there will be. We as customers are used as Ginny pigs to rectify there faults when they happen.

It is currently illegal in the UK to leave a vehicle unattended whilst the engine is running. Perhaps Audi are on the side of caution and do not wish the owners of their vehicles to be in breach of that law. Also you could accidently lock passengers in the car, arm the alarm, when you leave it and they would be unable to open the doors.

There are many other manufacturers cars where you cannot lock the doors with the engine running as well.

Personally I feel Audi have it correct however on other models you simply can't do it and if you try it certainly doesn't throw up errors..
Have you read through the manual to see if there is a reference to locking the doors within?

This has happened to me twice. On both occasions it was when being in a traffic jam and put on the handbrake, then had to move off straight away again. Maybe I moved before the handbrake finished engaging properly. I restart of the vehicle on both occasions fixed the issue.

I am periodically getting the Pre-Sense and other Driver Assist System error messages, which the manual suggests could be caused by a one of the sensors being covered by snow or a leaf. Not the case and a resart of the car tends to clear it. I have read elsewhere that there is a software update due (may even be released now) to address issues with the Assist Systems. I am just waiting to hear if it has been released and if it solves the issues before I contact the dealer.

Really keen to hear whether anything was available. Mine went in a couple of weeks back as I was having errors pop up for the headlamps. Camera fault, adaptive headlamp fault, lane assist fault, then a yellow triangle left. Turning off car for 5 minutes cleared it but it has happened 4 or 5 times now. They pulled the logs and had tech look at it, but said they didn't have a fix but it should be ok. Dont want to keep taking it in unless there is something they can apply.

I got it once a few days ago, it happened as I turned the car into the direction of the sun. This also happened in December as I parked under a bright light in a multi storey car park.
Has to be some sort of light sensor issue.

I had the update 2 weeks ago and since then I have (touch wood!) only had the "assist systems not available" message once and I have not had the aggressive intervention of the forward pre-sense that I used to get. Looks to be mainly (but not totally) fixed

Mine went in a couple of weeks ago - I was told by the dealer that the fix has not been released by Audi yet and there was no ETA.

They have added my name to a list of customers to call back once the fix is available.

One of these dealers is doing smoke and mirrors - either one tells a customer something is fixed when they don't really know that to be the case or one is stringing customers out as they don't know what to do so blame Audi by saying there's no fix available.

When I took my car in to have a tyre replaced I was told there was a recall for the Assist Systems. My car is a standard Sport model so only has the Pre-Sense Front Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Departure. If your's has the Tour Pack it may be that they are still working on a fix for that as it involves many more systems

I'll ask my local dealer here and see what response I get. Thanks.

Heavy rain resulted in a cascade of assistance system notifications. Most cleared as the rain became lighter. I did a stop/go engine off/on at a motorway services and all of the reported notifications cleared and assistance systems functioned normally. Apparently the s-Line tech pack 50 was software updated end Nov’18 when it went in for the injector fault (incorrectly reported as AdBlue empty!).
Every time the technology evangelists prattle on about autonomous taxi, the need for inter-car communication and external location/situation sensors will need many evolutions.
Having said that, the stop/start in the A6/C7 is absolute crap and kick myself every time I fail to switch it off when I fire up the ignition, preferring the simplicity and reliability of the A6/C6. However the A6/C8 absolutely nails the stop/start with excellent response to release of break or throttle and further enhanced by front sensors detecting movement of vehicles ahead. All this is relatively simple stuff but the incremental advances will probably take much longer than we think.

Love this feature, especially when in a traffic jam and mucking around with the MMI and not noticed the car in front moving off, acts as a handy little reminder to get moving

So I've not been back to the dealer yet, but I think I've managed to work out how to replicate it. If I start up the car and drive, then park up, turn off the engine and get out of the car but don't lock the doors. Give it a couple of minutes and get back in, start it up and I get the list of errors (camera, lane assist, main beam assist, adaptive lights, orange triangle).

Not sure whether the locking the doors makes a difference or not, will test, bit there are at least 3 occurrences in the last couple of weeks when it has happened after briefly stopping.

Good if you can replicate it to the dealeerrship and shows that sometthhing unusual seems to be taking place as the car should be able do this, mine can...

Not a lot of error but I did have most of the drivers assistance functions stop in the middle of a long drive on the weekend. I was on the motor way and had messages saying there was an error, or an issue with the surrounding environment and the drivers assistance functions were disabled (blind spot warning, lane departure etc...). They came back on 5 mins later - I hadn't stopped or restarted. It hadn't been raining so just a bit of a glitch I think. Apart from that it's been pretty faultless but hope it doesn't start happening intermittently.

To all who are having issues - I hope you manage to get your dealers' to resolve the issues, perhaps a software patch when it's available.

Paul/Dave - I completely agree with you about the stop/start feature this c8 model really does it very, very well.

I've had the software update and will check versions later but I don't think the versions you can see from MMI relate to the software versions of systems such as Pre-Sense, they are for the MMI systems only

Ok cool, I’m booked into Bath Audi Friday so hopefully it will get sorted

Your erros are more extensive than mine were. I only had the "driver assistance systems not available" message. Software fix is n ot perfect as only this morning the car did a sharp brake when it saw a cyclist waiting in the central reservation of the road to cross

What have you got the presense set too? Majority seem more comfortable with it set to late...

Currently set to Medium but I think changing it may make sense. God knows what it is like set to "Early"!

For what it is worth all of my versions are earlier than yours. Couple of questions do you have the Tech Pack (would affect the versions) and also do you have 4 zone AC as it seems from the photo that you can control the fan separately for each side of the car

Yes I have the tech pack and the 4 zone AC, I can control the fan for each side

Quiet, yes change it, the presense will still kick in occasionally but it is less intrusive. Unfortunately Audi are not the only manufacturer where owners are finding this technology a tad too aggressive, but I can assure you, from first hand experience, it can be a car saver...

It can be a bit tempremental, mine went off this morning going over a humpback bridge, I cross twice a day and it's never done it before and no other traffic/obstacles were about.
I cant remember what setting I have it on though

Sometimes it'll just ping, and make you jump, but if it detects someone is in control then it'll do no more. I can induce mine if I wish thus I tend to know what scenario will. Never once had a humpback bridge make it go off with my settings...

Yeah, it was very odd, but I do think it's a great system and the odd false alarm is worth it, when think of what ot could save you in the long run. These vehicles are crammed with stuff to distract you from the road - MMI, heating controls etc. It only takes a second to check a playlist or switch on the aircon and anything can happen in that time

Just home from the dealer and they found the errors on the car and have found a tech note from Audi. Checked everything and the hardware is sound. Basically they don’t have a fix yet but Audi are working on it so hopefully there will be one soon.

I brought a 2019 A6 in the last couple months and am having the multiple failed faults on occasion exactly as is described about. Audi have been a nightmare in sorting it making excuse after excuse. The cars been in for weeks at a time to capture videos which Audi UK are insisting on. I asked for the vehicle back to do it myself which I could in a couple days and they have refused my video as there was rain on the windscreen! I thought id have a look and see now it looks like a common fault which Audi seemingly have no fix for.

I have had lot of error.and still.
Today cold but sunny and my headlight on as they r on auto?

Had those errors this week. I had stopped the car to check the tyres (low pressure warning, again, but tyres ok) got back in and about 1 Mike further all the errors came on. They cleared after stopping the car for a couple of hours. It was booked into Audi for some rattles and asked them to check the faults. Got a wish washy excuse about it being learning and the controller needed to reset.
Good news is the rattles have gone!

Evening all,

just a quick info update. I’ve been having the warnings for a while and my car has gone back to Bath Audi today, they have told me that there is a tech note out but no fix yet. Audi are working on it.

Out of interest does anyone else find Dynamic to be juddery? I think Economic is better as I don’t think there is a difference apart from the juddering.

Just signed up to keep an eye on this thread. In exactly the same position as everyone else and just waiting to her what the “fix” is.

Anyone who hears from Audi on this, please update the thread :friendly wink:
