Not today but on sunday.
Made a start on the RNS-E retro fit .

Whilst i had the pioneer HU removed it seemed like a good oppotunity to address the AC temp control issue that's been bugging me for ages.
Ripped out the climate control module from centre consol, stripped apart completely and gave it a darn good clean with an air line and then with electrical cleaning spray etc.
Re-assembled and tested , spot on now ...happy days for that job.:yahoo:

Removed all the aftermarket HU fittings and wiring ,nice and easy then spent the rest of the day messing around with the rns-e fit, which in itself went well, had to refit my original mfsw but all went ok.

Ran VCDS to recode the steering wheel and bits only to have airbag faults, steering wheel comms faults along with climate control faults.
sorted all out except the climate control, then spent hours stripping everything out again to rectify why the flap motor wasn't working.
Turned out to be an old cable tie caught in the lever jamming the flap, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, anyway that removed and all is good and no faults .
Then the interior lights all stopped working, seems that fuse had blown, not sure why, but sorted that promptly.

HU works very well along with Nav , tel works fine as does mfsw controls, albeit from my original wheel not the rS4 one.
So just need to source a new flat bottom wheel to use and sort out the SDS, with work and hols shortly I wont have time myself to fit so will get Nhn to pop over and do the extra work.

Anway, very happy thus far with the fit and what turned out to be real bargain purchase.

Hi Rob, good to hear it all works, do you get the anoying bong from the OEM bluetooth when your phone connects and dissconects?
BTW, your RNS-E Mk2, I assume its not from a Seat Exo as you would have not been able to code it without adding the K-line ?
Hows the radio reception?

All works fine Richard, no bongs either .
Radio is nice and clear.
Was removed from an RS4.

Hi Rob, did you fit OEM bluetooth?
RS4, what year was the car as I thought the Mk2 RNS-E came out after the B7, about late 2009?

head unit is date stamped 2011 but seller stated it was removed from rs4 so that's all I know on that front Richard, it works correctly and coded in fine so no reason to query it.
everything works spot on so very happy thus far, well works better than I was expecting to be honest.

yep, makes a change for something to work straight out of the box. :icon thumright:

Indeed, all works fine and actually works very well with my iPhone 5s , SDS and new fb mfsw to add and jobs done.
I suspect my messing shorted out the interior lamps when I installed the MIC in the light unit...lol.
Just need to copy shed loads of cd music onto sdcards...oh what joy, may still fit the 6 disc changer to be different:yes:

Still thinking on this wheel, not a patch on my rs4 fbsw , nor newer wheels but hey it's different.
