I've looked in the manual and played with all the gadgetry but still can find no way to change the radio (volume) to default to "off" or at least the last selection it was left (on/off). So every time I start the car, regardless of whether I had the radio on or not when I stopped it and locked it up, the radio comes on which means I have to turn it off if I don't want it. Really not the end of the world but a very minor annoyance that I'd like to eradicate if at all possible. Any suggestions, anyone? MY2019 BTW, if that makes any difference...

The one biggest bugbear of mine after 2.5 years of ownership!

Wish there was a way, wonder if it’s possible with VCDS?

Should have added - IIRC one way is to hold down the volume button and shutdown the MMI entirely (black screen) then is remains off.

Not ideal, as then means you have to wait for it to boot for navigation etc.

Try changing your default to phone or media / Jukebox. It connects to Radio because your 'primary' media source isn't selected therefore defaulting it to the Radio.

I had the same ‘issue’ on my B8.5 and now my media source is default to my mobile. If I change it to Jukeboxe, it starts playing the media files otherwise it keeps quite

I just press the volume and leave it muted

I am sure the MMI allows you to change source as I have done it on couple of courtesy cars that I had.

As @Tashfeen rightly said, select "media" and then change the source to something such as your phone. It will stop the Radio from automatically playing. Also whilst we're on the topics of defaults, anybody know if it's possible to change the VC to default to maps instead of car details?

Thanks, all. I think changing the source sounds like the way to go.
