I’ve just picked up my first ever Audi, an S3 2016 (PFL) saloon in glacier white and I’m over the moon with her. I’ve been a Jap enthusiast my whole life so am eager to see how I get on with this car – but all signs are super positive so far
I needed something with rear doors and a decent boot as we just had our first baby, and the saloon seemed to tick all the boxes for me. I even test fitted the pram and baby seat on the test drive and all is good on that front!
My must have specs were supersport seats (love them) and the black styling pack, with the 7.1” screen. I seemed to have got a fair few more options with it like comfort pack, led interior lighting pack, B&O speakers, Tech pack high, Adaptive headlights with Xenon plus, red calipers, folding mirrors, parking system Plus f&r etc.
Being a noob, I have a few questions and I have ran a few searches and answered most of them but these still need some more clarification for me if you wouldn’t mind!
- Am I right in saying all S3 saloons have mag ride? If not, how do I know I have it?
- Even though it has the black pack, it doesn’t look like the rear windows are tinted as much as others I’ve seen. Was this an extra option? I’m going to have to get them done either way but interested to know
- The drive is awesome but the throttle response is horrible – a large amount of nothing followed by a sudden surge. At first I thought this was the turbo or auto (I’ve never owned either and used to responsive NA manual motors) but on research it looks like the throttle map is to blame. Anyone improved this via VCDS and what is your verdict?
I’m told that any modifications that are not ‘moving parts’ will not invalidate my warranty. I guess lowering springs are technically moving parts so can I assume that anything suspension related would not be covered if I went ahead and fit them? (maybe I can swap back stock springs should I take it in for any issue but will they pick up on it and note it during services etc?)
I’m sure I’ll have a lot more questions as I learn about it so thank you for having me!
I’ve a few mods in mind (wrapping the roof and mirrors black, lip kit etc) and will pop up photo’s of my progress…
