Is there a way to permanently turn off pre-sense? I know you can do it temporarily but I want it off completely. This is my first Audi and I'm really not a fan of this feature. It's highly sensitive and cuts in too often when there's no need.

Prime example of this: narrow road with cars parked either side. I go around the parked car in front of me and there's a car on the other side of the road which is also parked. Before I can move back onto my side of the road, pre-sense kicks in and slams on the brakes thinking I'm about to hit an oncoming car. I was doing a grand total of 7mph when this happened. Unfortunately for me, this is almost a daily occurrence as this is the road that I live on.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Not sure about off but can be turned right down via MMI.

My car had similar problems. There is a software update for the driver assist systems and since having it done it has been much better. Not sure if your car is eligible but worth asking. My car was built in September 2018. Turning off the systems permanently may lead to an interesting conversation with your insurers if you were unfortunate to have an accident

There is no way to permanently turn this and, in my opinion there shouldn't be either as it is a major safety feature. Mine is very unobtrusive if set to late...

Pre-sense shouldn't be operating at speeds this low. Is it really occurring at 7MPH or was it a bit higher? If it is that low, take it into the dealer and have it checked out, as at low speeds pre-sense should be switched off for precisely these reasons. Like the others on here, personally, I'll put up with the occasional false positive because on one occasion it has actually cut in properly and potentially prevented a collision.

That said, if you really do want to switch it off, you can. You can switch it off in the driver assistance settings, that are confusingly not under the settings menu! From the main home screen go to Car > then Driver assistance, (or something like that, I can't remember exactly). You'll know you've got the right one because the sub menu has three options, minimum, maximum and individual. You'll see the individual option has a little icon to indicate you can change it. Select Individual and then you can enable/disable the various driver assistance features, one of which is pre-sense.
