Service time again

It’s that time of year again where I need another service.

I have been quoted £403 for a service and inspection. What sort of prices are people getting?

I’m based in Wolverhampton if that helps.

I’m due 1st oil change (1 year / 7500 miles) in my S4... not yet called around for prices yet. From what I understand it’s extortionate for a few litres of oil and a filter...

Sounds about right for the inspection one. Had it done s couple of months ago, was my first service as car on variable initially. Shame they put them on fixed now.

I've done 12000 miles and just got the message in the car saying the oil change is due too. Planning on calling round later today.

When I asked for a breakdown of the costs they wanted £93+vat for the oil!
 
Get a quote from a independent Audi specialist and if it's lower ask Audi to price match...

Unfortunately it’s not that simple. Audi are saying they require an itemised list including part numbers.

I asked Audi for the part numbers required but was told they don’t provide that information. ‍
 
It’s more along the lines of the independents won’t itemise as they obviously don’t want to be used as a price match.

On my S5 I have just had the 2nd Oil Change with 32k on the clock and asked for inspection to be carried out at same time. £332 is what I paid last time for both and I emailed them to ask if they would do the same again. I needed a pollen filter as the car is just over 2 years now so that was £43 on top.

so £375 in total at Salisbury Audi. Others around the area ranged from £512- £550.

Others seem to have succeeded though as documented in this forum and not just with the A4 either. However if yours won't play ball then there's not alot you can do.

You haven't given details of the car either and whether the cost you've quoted includes the A/C service as well.

Plus, and I am sure some are getting bored of hearing this now, I am paying £9.56 a month for a three year service plan..

It’s a 190 TDI and no other works other then the oil and inspection.

Your service package is an absolute steal!

I paid roughly £600 for 2nd long life oil change, major inspection, spark plugs, brake fluid and air con. That was in March at Crawley Audi. They wanted originally nearer £900 but got them to price match an Audi specialist. My car was 2 years old and done roughly 38k miles.

Stupid thing is they didn’t have the tool to change the spark plugs. So couldn’t do it on the day I booked and didn’t realise till the afternoon on the day of the service. They had never changed spark plugs on that engine before. They had to source a dealer who had the right tooL. A bit of a pain!

I got 5 quotes from dealers and independent and a dealer (Sheffield) was cheapest at £240 for my 1st service on the S4. I then got my closest dealer to price match that. I think the service said it needs over 7 lt of oil!

Just been quoted £770 for my 2nd service which includes oil and filter, pollen filter (£60) inspection service (wasn’t due for 2,000 miles but Audi agreed to do at same time) and spark plugs (£300).

I asked if they could do cheaper and within 30 mins called me back and quoted £600.

Always worth asking and saved £170! I’m sure I could get even cheaper by going to an indi but happy with £600 and keeping full dealer history.
 
In the end managed to get it for £340 and that’s the full service with air filter.

That's roughly what mine was, I was originally meant to have spark plugs (£700 something) but they didn't have any in stock, worked out to about £350 I think.

I got a few places to quote and then argued the toss with them as they wouldn’t accept as they didn’t itemise part numbers. I think they gave me the price so I’d leave them alone!

After 6 months and just over 19,000 miles, my car has had its first variable service (inspection & oil change) at Oxford Audi. As it is a company car I do not pay myself - however sharing so that others can compare.

VAT inclusive cost (including replacement windscreen wipers at £36) was £307.18

They were very precise about the amount of oil charged for - 4.71 liters to be exact - however the MMI oil level is now down a third so maybe they did not top it off all the way. I did mention this and was told it may take a few miles for the sensor to reset - am not convinced and expect I will end up adding a very small amount of oil....

How did you find Oxford Audi? I went in recently to get a price for my first oil change and inspection service and the service advisor was beyond rude (and downright lacking in knowledge). Ended up walking out and booking a service at another Audi Centre despite having to travel considerably further.

As a datapoint I managed to get the cost down to £390 for my S4.
