What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Went for a bit of bling just 'cos I could.........
Acquired another S Line steering wheel but with silver surrounds on the controls. Was going to change the wheel but just stuck the 'new' bits into the old one so didn't have to undo the nut & deal with the other assorted bits.
Made it into a nice 15 minute job & just a (little) bit more classy.......

The silver button trims make a big difference in my opinion, im in process of adding a few chrome/silver accents to my interior

Ive done the mirror switch, changed the gear nob also with matching silver stitching and im attempting the light switch next

Had tyres swapped over to different Alloys today. Bit of messing around getting the alloys on. Had to fit spacers which I didn’t really want to as I’d already gone for a wider rim. But there we go. All good fun. Will head down to a friends at the weekend and adjust the rear camber so they don’t rub on big bumps. I know they won’t be too everybody’s taste but would be a boring world if we all liked the same things!

Looks smart once they’re in!:icon thumright: Mine are still rattling around the boot attached to the flappy paddle wheel I still haven’t fitted as I haven’t sourced a reasonably priced airbag! If anybody knows if an 8P airbag will work (not blow up) feel free to let me know! Lol

Hi Sam - It is indeed a nice colour that. :icon thumright: However, Although the wheels do look brill - I would be careful not to attract any rozzer :busted cop: interest as the rear ones do appear to be considerably outside the arches (They take a dim view of that as it's an MOT fail.....). :sorry:

That looks awesome where did you get them? Are they off the s4/rs4?

I think the wheel is from an A5, the gear knob is from a later A3 and the mirror switch i bought cheap from ebay and swapped the knob onto my original switch

Yeah you are definitely right. I am a bit worried about that, going to adjust the rear camper to see if that helps tuck them in. At the moment it’s not got any negative so will adjust that to its maximum and see if that helps. I messed up with them really. Got a lower offset but didn’t take into consideration the front brake carrier. So had to get spacers. Pushed them out a bit too far. It’s due it’s mot at end of the month. Will see how it goes

Wheels protruding past the arches is something the police can prosecute over the C&U regs but is not an MOT failure I believe. Seen this conversation many times in the Land Rover world.

Ahh really. I knew that you could be prosecuted for it, mate of mine got done a fair few years ago, he had a mx5 with crazy wide wheels on it behind, traffic officer pulled him over and he got booked. So I just assumed it was a failure. Either way I want to get it sorted. If nothing else it’s in the back of my mind that I could get pulled over so I’d just rather not give them an excuse!

Well Sam, I think if you adjust the rear camber that much you will probably find it wears out the rear tyres very quickly on the inside edge (where you can't see it without looking under the car). Could end up being expensive if you need to replace tyres too often.
I seem to recall the regs regarding tyres/arches are that the topmost part of the tread must be within the arch line but it still looks like you would have to have very serious negative camber on the back to achieve that so might upset the handling too. :sorrow:

Fitted a pair of 10mm to the rears and 5mm to the fronts , looks much better now without too much poke.

Normally it would be a case of getting longer locking bolts , just go for the length you need, oem a4 b7 bolts are radius shoulder bolts 27mm long , so just add on the thickness of your choosen spacer.
I have left them for now whilst I mess around with things, but when I have finished and all is ok i'll order a new set of the correct length.

At long last found an airbag for my flappy paddle wheel! Quickly dashed out and put it all in during a bit of thunder and lightning this evening and all is good! Nice to finally get the silver trimmed buttons in too

1st year of ownership complete.... passed its MOT (once we replaced the offside brake calliper - no wonder fuel consumption was down). Oh the money this car has cost thus far.

Cruise control, DIS and MFSW installed

I have to admit Chap, every moment she's driven properly it's put a smile on my face. it's the 'now what' moments that are the killer.

That's what its all about, enjoying the drive with maximum grin factor.:yahoo:

I mocked up the silver trimmed light switch knob last night only to find out it may not allow me to remove the light switch onces fitted, as the new knob overlaps the surround preventing it releasing the tabs. Back to the drawing board, but i like the improved oem+ looks

Hi Alex - I'm interested to know what the second light switch along is - DRL perhaps? If so, apart from different under-the-steering-wheel trim and the switch itself, what else would I need to fit DRL to mine?

My last A4 had all of this, but my current A4 is very basic, apart from the sunroof!

Cheers, might just have a look at that

No bother, the fixing is the same, just requires some tweaking to fit a B7, i just removed my chrome gator ring trim and reinstalled the new knob + gator.

The one on left is the CH/LH switch, the right one is headlight range adjuster for halogen headlights.
