What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

Went a bit mental today but the thing was feeling a bit rough so did a proper decontamination:

1. Iron X Snow Soap - foamed on with a Lance
2. Washed with Carpro Reset & dried
3. Whole car treated with Tar X
4. Second wash with Reset
5. Carpro Hydrofoam applied
6. Wheels were cleaned with Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel Wash
7. Plastics done with Carpro Perl
8. Tyres dressed with Megiuars Endurance Tyre Gel

Then I swapped out my carbon mirror covers for a gloss black set and have the inside a wipe down and a hoover.

Nice shift, but no pics

Oh l could think of nicer colours than either black or grey mate personally wouldn't have a black car ,don't like Sophisto grey at all, looks brown when the sun hits it...

Ok, but given the colours they offer (no
Individual at the mo, but coming)...not talking about the gold/silver one, there isn’t a massive colour choice.

Carbon Black is not far off Navarra in some lights

You could also try a siloxane infused snow foam, its not a cleansing snow foam, you spray it on after you've washed it....then towel dry, saves buffing
@jassyo06 - I’ll have a look at that - cheers :thumbs up:
Any recommends ?

Right been saying this for the last 6 months....l have lost a lot interest in detailing...think once ye know it all it becomes a bit boring....lol...prefer to do other folks cars than my own....but to be honest since coming back from my guff holiday...weather up here has been very wet but l did scrub my steering wheel and the drivers seat with Valet Pro leather soap/Swissvax leather seal, looks and feels brand new,had a impulse to buy another Dual action machine but l had to get 2 new tyres for the rears....been a nightmare to get the specific oem tyres....Kwik fit messed me about...big time this week, as had National tyre service previously ...so ended buying Pzero AO1's tonight from Tyre leader,l just need to find the right mob to fit them now without scratching/marking the alloys.

My mind has even strayed to the dark side...ie getting another car in the next 6 month.....still 1 skeleton in my car closet...we'll see

RS3 Saloon with a pano-roof...lol

Can see why mate. When the detailing mojo has gone, it’s time to consider something new to reinvigorate the passion. Something in Solar Orange lurking around the corner perchance? Nearly new and pre WLTP? It’s gonna have to be a bold colour choice to follow Voodoo...

Finally finished yesterday afternoon, sweating all weekend in the sun but worth it.
Single stage correction followed by two coats of Cquartz uk 3.0.
Just waiting for some carpro Perl to arrive for tyres and a quick vac inside.
Will get some better photos when I’m out next and after it’s first wash.

You're not trying to trick me into polishing in direct sunlight are you !! lol !
Well unfortunately its raining now, and the sun wasn't up when I left for work, so the opportunity is missed!
Maybe next time !

No mate not trying to trick you into anything other than the obvious......applying such products by hand on the sides of a car can induce slight marring either by applying too much product or not removing it totally....

Rain is the only 'detailing' used today, been belting it down all day but we need it. Hopefully this'll make up for my lack of attention...

Don't think I'll ever apply polish by hand again . Hell no ! If I recall correctly I'm sure that AG instruct to apply polish in circular motions ...... Asking for swirl marks !!

@OCDaveS3 , got a Halfords DA for sale cheap if you're interested at trying your hand . Drop me a pm if you like

Well @jassyo06 I was only messin with my comment (!!) but hey thanks - I hadn’t realised i could cause swirl problems etc after a thorough wash/dry and using separate MF to apply and buff polish! (& yes @X3man it does say “apply in circular motion” !!!!)

I’ll have a good look when the sun returns and report back. Thanks v much @Scotty75 for the DA offer :thumbs up: but at the moment I haven’t got the time/competence/inclination to start machine polishing :snail:......

I have seen this comment before regarding not applying product in a circular motion. Its got me thinking does it make any difference; marring, swirls etc are caused by abrasion so applying in a circular motion potentially can cause circular marks but applying in a straight line could leave linear marks.

Is my thinking out here ?

I would have thought applying polish by hand should not inflict marring/swirls IF the paint isn't contaminated.
Many (myself included) used to just wash the car with any old shampoo, hose down, dry and then hand polish.

Probably mega road grit, metal particles etc (stuff that a good Iron Out or Clay bar would remove) that then just got further moved around the paintwork inflicting damage :wtf:

First wash on the new to me a4

Even got to try out the 0ppm water filter

Applying product or washing your car in a circular motion ....increases the chances of scratching the paintwork ie if you've collected guff on yer Mitt yer going to increase the size of the area inflicted by going in a circular motion, straight lines you wont as your drawing the guff in a straight line....less damage...smaller area less noticeable
You should always wash your car in straight lines, types of applicator and removal of product cause just as much damage as anything...but just get a machine polisher and you can then not give a monkeys chuff.....basically bit anal this question to be honest if you worry about swirls.etc etc
