Paul, i'm running Bilstein B8's with H&R 45mm springs and they are excellent, thought about changing to coilovers but decided to stick with the B8's as they work very well indeed with short springs.

Morning not bothered about going really low it sits nice as it is not really got a budget I tend to stop away from cheap stuff as been burnt before and end up buying twice maybe upto £1000 or do I need to pay a bit more???
Thanks

Ive been in a similar predicament Paul.

I was originally just looking to lower my Avant for aesthetics only as the front arch gap was larger than i liked.

So the issue i faced was do i go coilovers or lowering springs and shocks?

Coilovers require you to spend a healthy amount of money for a good quality product that provide plenty of height adjustment and improved ride and handling. For me, i couldn't justify spending £500+ when all i was looking for was an aesthetic improvement. However i do believe that coilovers, should you buy the right ones, are the muts nuts.

So i settled for a set of Eibach Sportline lowering springs. Im really happy with the drop, it looks great, body roll feels slightly reduced over the stock springs and also it was far more cost effective for what i actually wanted to achieve.

Im now considered going down the route of Bilstein b8s. I feel in my case body roll and cornering needs improved slightly more, so for my budget, its a great alternative to coilovers. They get great reviews by b7 owners and are also reasonably priced.
