While messing around with my car I accidentally removed my DashCam fuse. The fuse connects to a USB converter and the + was attached to it in some way, but I can’t recall how. Might be a n00b question, but how do these two parts connect together? I remember they were attached together onto the fuse.

And also, how do I know ACC location for it? Does anyone have a fuse map for 2013?

Thanks.

I don't recognise that. Was it a professional installation? Most would use a piggy-back holder/connector.

Might be an idea to tell us which dashcam you have and if it needs just switched or switched and permanent live connections.

If you are looking for switched / ACC power then use fuse F40 (yellow 20amp).

You’re right, I’m sorry. I’m using DDPai mini2. It has parking options and G Sensor but because it was only turned on by key switch till now, I never got to use them.

Get yourself a couple of add-in fuse connectors and use the following:

-Fuse position F40 for switched / ACC power.
-Any empty fuse position on the row F15 to F21 for the permanent live power.

My camera only has a micro usb input. Do you reckon, if it has G-sensor capabilities, they expect me to permanently feed it with power? Wouldn’t it drain the battery overnight?

I have installed a couple of these and like most dashcams with a parking mode the different power connections are needed in order for the camera to know which mode it needs to be in. The permanent live will be keeping the camera on, the switched source will tell the camera if it should be in parking mode or “driving” mode. If you only connect the switched live then the camera will not go in to parking mode.

Your usb power cable should split out in to earth, permanent live and switched live (ACC).

Parking mode will drain the battery but the camera has voltage protection / a cut-off point. When the vehicles battery gets to approx 12.0v the camera will shut down in order to protect the vehicle.

Wow, that’s really clever. Thank you for the detailed answer.

As for the USB cable - it’s the one that I received with the cameras. I reckon they thought most people wouldn’t wanna mess with it so they included a regular usb cable.

As for the split cable - is it something I can purchase, or is my current usb cable that I received with the box enough for the job (as in cutting the USB end and splitting the cables?

Any chance you can post up some photos of the bits you have? Given the photo of the wire you posted before and what you are saying now I am a little confused.

If you have a standard usb type cable (usb connections at both ends) then in my experience this should be used with a 12v to usb via the cigarette lighter. The image you posted however shows a stripped back cable...

The stripped back cable is a part of my cigarette lighter fuse thingy.

The USB cable I received with the box is just a standard USB to micro usb cable.

This is what you need for parking mode and normal operation:

Amazon product

Edit: forum seems to auto convert amazon links in to something I cannot see on my iPhone.

Okay, so I think I found it. Only has ground and ACC. How does it know to go into parking mode?

Hmm, that one also has an auxiliary output and not micro USB. could it be that my unit doesn’t support parking mode? I know there are sensitivity settings for it in the app so...
I think it’s time you whip out your cameras instruction manual in order to see what it is that you actually have and what’s available by way of installation options.
