What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

Please share how you achieve this mate, as despite how careful I am with brushes and cloths, seems an impossible task like keeping piano black trim scratch free?
I use the ultra soft 470gsm edge less cloths mate well 2 of them, one is slightly dampened with water the other buff off or you could polish them then apply a ceramic, use Menzerna 3800 with the mini rotary at its lowest spead with the softest pad available bosh job done, l machine polish the exterior high gloss black plastic trims with Menzerna 3800

Those scourers are no good on the mmi screen @A4A4

It looks that way.. Thought brillo pad would do..lol.(joke)

My bad using something that reacted to the anti-coating layer on the screen.

Just the usual for me again today...

BH Autofoam, Autowash & wheel cleaner topped off with BSD/D&D as a drying aid.
Can probably get it done in about an hour now..

No photos as it looks the same as last time I posted it up on here :thumbs up:

Cheers

Right all, username changed (ok Q5 not quite gone, but soon).
A better avatar will follow once I have the beast :)

Many thanks to @Sandra for giving me a few tags

I am going to be posting up a new thread on my proposed X3 new car detail.
I already have tips from you lot, but also thanks to @Bristle Hound he has given me his list (I have never done this new car prep before, when there is still protective film etc on the car)

I will let you know when thread is up, and post a link to it here.

Hmm - isn’t there some risk taking the car with the film etc on that if there is anything dodgy underneath it you will get blamed???

Just a bit worried for you mate!

fair point Dave, I will probably remove any film whilst there if there is cause for concern...film damaged etc.
They will probably remove some of it anyway, as required for PDI, but I am dealing with the Sales Manager, so anything out of the ordinary I will be onto him :)

Nervous myself, but excited...it is too tempting to get the car cleaned and prepped for nice reveal (what the Mrs want), but I have seen 1st hand the damage just one careless wash can have.

:fearful:

Yes, I totally get that, as we all know what horrors dealers can inflict on a car!! I'm sure it will all be fabulous, but maybe you could create some form of video record of the removal of key film protections in case there is anything untoward beneath !! Really looking forward to the "reveal" !!

Had a few hours of zen time today, so full detail, inside and out. Fully ‘hoovered’, properly washed and cleaned rubber matts and boot tray, Leather (and steering wheel) cleaned and coated with Valet Pro leather cleaner and anti-friction coating, cockpit fully done (with a damp, wrung-out microfibre, spritzed with diluted Surfex HD - does a good job of interiors, this).

Then PW rinse, snow foam, rinse, two-bucket wash (with x2 grit guards in each, lol), final rinse with the Raceglaze water filter connected to the K4. Dry. Boot shuts, door shuts and engine bay clean. Then 45 mins on the wheels. Didn’t bother with tyre shine this week, now I’ve got the knack of TAC Systems tyre gel, the durability has held up (hasn’t rained this week, mind you).

Exhaust tips, then cup of tea.

Then a once over with Done & Dusted Si Edition (for the 3rd week in a row) - liking this stuff more and more, and it definitely layers. It’s not one for the beading hipsters - but it sheets water like crazy, and I’m liking that. A lot. If you haven’t tried it yet - get some, and if you can’t get some serious gloss with it very easily, you might as well give up and go home.

Enjoyed the new Karcher K4 today, with newly swapped out 10m hose and Hose-eez tyre jam eliminators. Both contributed to the zen.

Next wash will be on the hire car in Menorca next week, with a dish washing bowl, El-Fairy Liquido, a sponge smaller than the palm of my hand and a tea-towel to dry, lol.

Likey :icon thumright:. Daytona is stunning, and I love it when clean. One of the best colours ever IMHO.

Out of curiosity, how do you find the Conti tyres?

Cheers buster. I’m no Mika Hakkinen when it comes to my driving style so the Conti's are what the car came with, give me the grip I need and are way more durable than the likes of Michelin PS4’s (so I’ll likely get 15-20k miles from them rather than 5-10k).

Horses for courses mate - If you want super grippy, then the PS4’s seem to be the best choice, but lifespan is the compromise and the Conti Sport Contact 5’s are good enough for me.

Stunning work @Jimbob76. The depth and the shine is top class and I would not have used any tyre gel either as they look dressed up already. Job well done mate

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on using just the Surfex HD on the interior as I usually 'coat' it with GTechniq C6 to give it the matte look. Do you not use any interior protection or decided not to use just this one time.
