Does Anybody Know This Car?

Hi Guys,

This is a long shot and I know chances are very slim but I'm a little desperate to try and save this car and get it back with us. We sold my Dad's B7 A4 Avant a few years back, it went in PX and a friend of mine bought it and then sold it without informing me and I had every intention on buying it back.

The car was sold to somebody in Cardiff, I've been keeping such a close eye on the market for months on end, daily... but did I check Gumtree, did I hell. I random search of the reg number brought up a picture of it on an old ad on Gumtree around 6 months old now thats been removed from sale, single photo and no seller information other than rough area where they live and I know the street, argh!

The car changed hands in beginning of February, ever since it's been uninsured and shortly after the change of keeper it went from being Untaxed to being SORN'd. It is my understanding that if it had been scrapped that reg would have been cleared of any vehicle and nobody would have taken the time to SORN it, unlikely anyway.. so I figured it is in a yard somewhere whether it be a breakers, accident repair or just needing mechanical repairs. I have spoken to the DVLA who told me they can confirm it isn't in the trade, but that is it.. nothing else. Strange for somebody to advertise it for sale less than 6 months ago as in good working order, recently been serviced and then for it change keeper 4/5 months in and then disappear off of the roads. When my girlfriends car went for scrap and we declared it a write off, the reg was quickly moved from the system.

Does anybody know of this car? The reg is WG56 RXD as you can see. Will attach the photo of where it sat on the Gumtree ad also, not that much had changed.... Got a huge soft spot for this car and would really like to save it. If nobody knows where it is, does anybody have any ideas of how I could find out where it is? Data protection laws are getting in the way.

The car over the last month or so has been taxed and insured, had a clean MOT a few days ago.

Hoping the new owner will turn up on here and see my thread, wouldn’t that be a result. Hence my bump of the thread...

Until then, eyes peeled for me as always.

If so you can approach the garage for the owners details, one way or another....

From the MOT website online, you need the V5 reference number to access that information so only the owner would have it.

My only hopes of finding it are coming across it randomly, or it goes back up for sale.

Lots have questioned why I’m bothering, the car just means a lot to me and played a big part of where I am today with my Audi’s and I would love to save it.. it was a great car.

It’s had the oil pump balance shaft done with the modified part, was also mapped while we had it and it went really well.. used to spin up in 3rd on occasion

It’s gone from an MOT with a few advisories to a clean one, so either it’s all been done (unlikely) or it’s somebody in the trade who has it

Fingers crossed will get it to run alongside my RS3 one day, dream setup for me.. the B7 platform is well up there for me... such a good looking car!

I think the chances of finding a garage that would be willing to do this, would be slim to none.

If I ever found out where it’s been worked on etc, I’d just approach and ask them to pass my details over next time it’s in.
