Is it scandalous not to like the flat bottomed steering wheel on my S3??

I ignored it, cos I absiolutely love the car, but it feels a bit gimmicky, and after 6 weeks of ownership I'm bored with it LOL ! BMW's (sorry to use that name here) seem to have avoided them.

Does anyone know whether you can get a round steering wheel to exactly the same spec, and with the same S3 detailing, and get it swapped out ?? !

To answer your question: yes it is!

With that said I'm not sure you will get the shift paddles if you choose an oem round S3 steering wheel. But I know the heated version is only available as round :D

The BMW steering wheel in my mrs 1 series m-sport is far better than the flat bottomed wheel in my black edition so i agree with what you're saying.

Yes, I don't particularly like it but the wife does! Would change for the heated one if it had the paddles.

Does it really matter? It's not like you hold the flat bottom bit anyway.

I prefer flat bottomed steering wheels on sporty cars. Not sure why? Maybe as it's different to the lesser models below.

While I personally do prefer the look of flat bottomed steering wheels......I'm giving this thread a big thumbs up based purely on the witty title. :D

Flat bottomed steering wheel, half leather(ine) and mono pur trim - from a time when Shiraz was a popular colour option.

I do actually miss the flat bottomed steering wheel ( not much else I do miss TBH) and having it on the Cayman would certainly assist us oldun's with getting in and out :)

Agree. I have a heated one and it is round. I considered to trade it for a flad bottomed one but than tried the warm function and was sold :)

Personally I like the flat bottomed wheel.
I don’t find it gimmicky, it more a case of it is what it is, you either like them or you don’t.

I like it for several reasons (not in any particular order)

It’s different but doesn’t get in the way when driving. Ok it earns snob points too.
Less likely to cause issues getting in and out when the seating position is more sporty.
For S-Tronic helps to orient the gear shift paddles when turning.

I really wanted a heated wheel, wonder why you only get option with round.

Speaking of, read a review that said the A8 has heated armrest!

A friends car - Hyundai ionic - has cooled leather seats.. hate the car but tech like that I like.

You could probs get a round audi steering wheel I doubt it will have the s3 at the bottom though, might have to get a s3 decal badge and stock it on

The wheel logos are actually interchangeable on the flat bottom wheels, so you can swap to a different model type if needed.

Thanks - and on closer inspection today, mine just says "S" rather than S3............I shall make some enquiries of Audi (doubtless the price, if available. will be hilarious!)

Looks like I’m definitely in the minority here!! :flushed:

If I remember correctly, £35 from the stealers :racer:

Yep I just bought the 8V S3 steering wheel badge to replace the S badge that’s on the FL S3 cars. I haven’t fitted it yet but it was £25.33 from the main dealer.

I have one in my Fiesta ST. I could certainly live without the flat bottom. Don't see the point to it really.

Not wanting to bust your bubble or anything but you will have to match your front calipers with your steering wheel now...lol

Ahhh man you’re joking?!! I haven’t looked closely at them and I’m not with the car at the moment. Do they just say S on them also?!!
