hi everyone.
Just wondering has anyone with the 1.5tfsi had a remap yet or a tuning box?
Got a new a3 last week with this engine in it.
I'm really happy with it but was thinking of giving it a remap further on down the road.

Hi,
No remaps available yet - I'm looking forward to see one.
But DTUK sells a great tuning box called FSR+ ;-)

Cool.. Have you tried it yet? I presume it's 100% removable for warranty purposes?

Yes - and if you buy it I’ll recommend the one with APP control :)

Absolutely 100% removable, but needs someone who either know their way around the engine or has very small hands for plugging into one of the censors.

Have you heard of one being detected though? I have two Audi's both with a tuning box, yet not one was detected. Not heard of any other either, as no flags are generated no tuning boxes are detected..

Isn’t the concern more if an engine goes bang and Audi then read stored values etc, I’m sure somebody has stated the gear box records values etc.

It’s the risk you have to take, if You think it’s worth it.

Never heard of anyone getting detected - but also never heard of anyone with a mayor engine error :hushed:

Interested to know how you are finding the engine generally ? Responsive, decent pulling power ? Cheers in advance

I have to be honest.. I was really worried after I ordered the car with the 1.5tfsi engine as there have been a lot of reports of cars across the vag group suffering from kangarooing in 1st gear with this motor.
My last car was a 160bhp a4 b8 and compared to that the 1.5 feels as though the power is low down the Rev range. Almost diesel like..By 4k the show is almost over and it feels like it doesn't like being revved beyond that.
However from my limited time with the car it feels very responsive for a little 1.5 it pulls well from low down and I really can't say enough about the economy. I'm getting nearly 500 miles to a tank of fuel..and mine is a manual.
So far so good.

Coming from a Seat Ibiza 1.2 TFSI, it was very good both in reponse and pulling power.
But after driving it a couple of months I started noticing some lack of pulling power after every gear transmission.
And I was also missing some action from 50mph-80mph.

The FSR+ box does cover my need from 50mph to 80mph.

I also started to notice that you have to press the speeder about 2-3 cm before anything happens.

I’m waiting for delivery of my A4 with the same engine and auto box so was interested to see how it was performing

:blow: Audi are smarter than that. A box will cause certain parameters to be exceeded, ECU will store a flag and void your warranty on most mechanical bits.

The new flag is something like td2 or whatever the code is. It’s suspected tuning box or similar has been on the car. The car is flagged without you knowing just like a td1 flag.
It’s only a problem if something goes bang and there’s a big warranty claim.
Things like boost levels, torque on the gearbox etc have values stored on ecu and other electronics. If these stores values exceed what the allowable tolerances are then they might not pay out on warranty as the standard ecu should not allow these tolerances to be exceeded.
Other things they check is the connectors/plugs to things like fuel rail sensors and boost sensors as most plug and play boxes has to connect to these to work so if there’s any marks or wear on these connectors and plugs it further proves that something was plugged in and removed as these should not be connected/disconnected during service and if you had a problem with them before they would have a record of a previous warranty claim.
I had this confirmed to me by an Audi tech as tuning boxes are getting more and more popular as the selling point is remove it and Audi won’t know when something breaks. They will refuse to pay if they think something has been there. They have caught on to this.
Diesels are the worse as increase power comes with massive increase torque so chances of gearbox issues is very high.
Only possible good thing is the memory on the ecu/electronics is pretty low so if you drive about for a week or so before going in they could be cleared as newer records will replace older ones.
Only possible if you didn’t blow a gearbox or engine though.

Are you sure it's the same engine? I thought the A4 was still coming with either the 1.4 tfsi or the 2.0 tfsi?
Maybe they have dropped the 1.4?
