I have the tech pack fitted and the 3 years MMI package whatever that entails as at the moment I can’t see what you get for the 3 years as not very clear as to what use it is?
Do you need to buy a SIM card to read text messages and emails? Any help is much appreciated.

The SIM card (in the car) is optional, and gives you Audi Connect services as well as Google Maps within Navigation. You can also run these services from the SIM within your phone - Its an option you get when setting up the initial BT connection.

This is how it works on the C7.5:

Connect to MMI via BT
Press the Speak button on the steering wheel. Say "Read Email" or "Read Text Message" and away you go....

What is via BT.sorry I didn't get

You dont need an additional SIM card for the SMS/email reading.

There is an inbuilt SIM in the vehicle, which will provide the data for Google maps, online destination searches, traffic news, weather and RSS news feeds/Twitter, at no extra cost.

You will only need to use an additional SIM, or buy a data package for the inbuilt SIM, or use the data connection of a smartphone witb an RSAP Bluetooth profile (mainly Samsung), for the following services:
  • Wifi access point for passengers
  • Online radio stations
  • Napster music streaming
  • Amazon music streaming
The last 2 will also require a separate subscription to the service provider.

How to set up email reading.i can read and but email not so far any help please so I can try tomorrow

Check your bluetooth settings on your phone to see if "message access" option is enabled for the bluetooth connection to you vehicle.

You then have the option to select email and/or SMS messages depending on which you want. When a message comes in you get A message pop up on the upper display for a short time and then an envelope in the top right hand corner. Press that and you get the option to display or hear the message

What phone are you using?
Are you able to view/create emails inthe MMI?

Any pictures of settings on the phone/MMI would be helpful

Do you have another email account you can try, with the default email app on your phone?
If this works in the MMI, it may be possible to set your email app to work with your gmail account, instead i6f using the gmail app itself?
I think the issue is bot the email account, but the MMI wont connect to the gmail app
Just a thought
Another alternative may be to use Android Auto, surely gmail is supported by this!

I use the Samsung email client for both Apple and a few gmail accounts, and can voice access them all via MMI.

Your presented with a single email inbox, which the MMI has access to.

You just need to set up the accounts onto the Samsung client. :thumbs up:

Think it may be iPhone issue in the same way it does not support rSAP it does not support the form of Message Access Protocol (MAP) that the car requires for eMail access.

I think we're referring to android based phones, not apple products...

wan't clear until the last few posts. Email does not work with my iPhone XR either, although personally I do not feel the need to access my emails while driving so not an issue, and if I needed to access email I could switch to using CarPlay

No problem, email notifications has always worked fine with all the incarnations I have had of android based phones...

Hi I have just bought a 2014 RS4 and have paired my iPhone 8 with the car but when I press the "I" icon in the phones bluetooth menu there is no facility to enable notifications. I paired my iPhone with my wife's VRS Octavia and son's Superb and it is there just not with my Audi. Is there a hidden menu in the MMI somewhere?

Suggest you try the relevant A4 forum (B8?). This forum is for the C8 A6 whihc uses a very different MMI platform to your car

Correct, my car is the same. I have iPhone and get text messages popping up on my MMI only.
