hi everyone

New here! My missis has just ditched our horrible 63 1.5dci qashqai and i’ve found her a solid 62 2.0tdi A3 sportback.. in black!! She insisted on BLACK! .. only problem is.. it has scratches.. loads and loads of scratches and swirls! It was a bargain and has full history with all the usual wear and tear parts replaced since its done 130,000.

She isn’t majorly fussed about the scratches as its ‘comfy.. reliable.. looks well and its fast’ as she says .. but.. im wondering if theres anything out there that could possible mask the scratches just until we get cash together to get it done professionally.

I have a mondeo estate which i use for my job (dog handler) so that just gets treat like a work van and gets a £3 wash through the auto near us.. i have no experience with cars in general so unsure whether anything is even available to hide the scratches!

Thanks anyways to anyone with the time to reply!

Are we talking full on scratches or just clumsy washing induced ones?

Thanks for the input guys!

Just clumsy washing induced mainly cuke2u.

I've been advised to try some Farecla G3 Liquid and then Autoglym super resin polish to finish

Do the scratches catch on your finger nail ? If they do then you'll be needing help from the pros . Otherwise polishing it with a Dual Action polisher and G3 may improve things . They do look bad scratches though.

The joys of owning a black car. They look to deep to me to mask

Yeah if the paint has been removed then only a touch up paint stick will reduce there noticeability ie a touch up paint pot and a loew Cornel paint pen,the fine scratches can be masked by a coloured wax +Dodo Juice black widow and super resin polish

Thanks! That pen looks spot on for the job.

Off on holiday for a week so managed to rush a quick coat of autoglym super resin polish which has magically got rid of all the swirls and such.. just left with the nasty scratches but it looks tonnes better for now.. thanks again everyone.. think i will start my own thread soon as theres plenty to go at ... take care

Same panel with similar enough light conditions to see the difference
