Hi everyone

I've got A3 2005 2.0 tdi 3dr and very odd issue with passenger door.

I can't open passenger door at all. The driver door and boot opens fine (I am fully aware of double click etc etc).
It was fine 2 weeks ago. When i try to open it from inside nothing happens and passenger door stays locked. Even when I pull the handle on it. From outside is the same, still stays locked. The window on it operates normal.

Is there any way or workaround so I can open the passenger door and take a look on the door lock - as I think this will need replacing.

Everyones help is really appreciated.

Thanks

I think the lock is brocken and you may have to get through the card to fix it.Happened to me on a golf recently but intermittently so was able to get it fixed when open

Hi

Yeah the lock is definitely broken.

Through the card? Not sure what you mean.

someone needs to get to the lock by breaking through the door card and open the door to replace the lock .you will need a new card too

Thanks again, Mike.

Yeah, I thought about this and wanted to avoid it bit that me be the only option

From what I've been told recently you don't need to go through the door card to get at the lock. Can't quite remember how he described breaking the lock. I'll try get an answer for you.

That would be great. Thanks a lot in advance mate

Yes the locking part has stuck locked which is the worst scenario with the door card in place.
Some people have had success with hitting the inside of the door with the side of their clenched fist repeatedly whilst pressing the key fob repeatedly too. Have someone else pulling on the door handle too. Try it in hot as well as cold weather.
Failing that research on YouTube on how to get off your door card and some have been able to get it off while the door is shut. Be prepared by searching on a replacement doorcard.

Hi, thanks, unfortunately no success. I think the door card replacement is the only way to go

I had the same problem with a Golf (common VAG fault?) and had to remove the door card with the door locked, it’s not easy! If it’s like a Golf you also have to remove the window glass as well, you then have to destroy the lock as the securing bolts are hidden by the B pillar. As a long shot a friend found disconnecting the battery for a while worked on his Golf, not sure why, but it did.

Best of luck.

Thanks, Dave. I'll give it a go with thr battery and see if it works.
