Hi Guys, sadly my S3 has been wrongfully taken in a very clever way by a ‘posed buyer’. He even took my new keepers slip on a sly. He’s covered his tracks by sending me messages and silly me replying to them. I just want my car back . It’s very distinctive so please tell me if you see this car. It will most likely be in the Worcester, Pershore WR10 area. He’s now ignoring my calls and blocked my number.
Could also be in the Wolverhampton, Walsall, Birmingham or Milton Keynes area.
It’s not taxed and they won’t be able to tax it
(Well I Hope not)

They could be sporting stolen plates on it or it might be on its original reg

It’s very distinctive.

There’s not many red 5 door s3 cars around.

Things to look out for:

Quattro rear door decals
Factory tints
Red brake calipers
Reverse camera
Radar cruise control
2 rectangular holes at the top of the front reg plate on the main grill
Front sensors
Matrix style LED rs3 headlights
Pace indicators

Will most likely be a young white / Irish guy driving it. Between the ages of 22-25(not being racist or stereotypical, but this is the description of the guy that took it). Looked about 5ft10-6ft, medium build.

Please if you see this or think you’ve seen it, don’t hesitate to call or message me on 07759715734.

Scumbags, hope you get it back. Could you share some details of how the scam worked so people can be aware of signs to look out for? I’ve never sold privately and things like this is one of the reasons why, always had a fear of been conned or robbed in some way.

Just curious mate, but how did it happen? Were you selling your car? I'm thinking of selling mine and want to make sure what to look out for if this was a scam, hopefully if you have any info it can prevent this from happening to anyone else. I hope you get your car back mate, sounds like a **** circumstance to be in.

Agreed, I've sold privately a few times with no issue however something like this could happen to anyone.

Will keep my eye out as around the MK area for next few weeks with work and college. Absolute scumbags but at this point who knows what they've done with it. Hopefully a resolution is sorted for yourself soon enough.

Sorry to hear about this, you might want to remove your mobile number from this public forum and ask people to DM you instead.

Sorry to hear this will keep my eyes open, I live in the wr10 area. Thieving sh.t if you want a car like that ..... work hard for it!!!!!! not nick it.:gun2:

Shocking. Scum of the earth. As others have asked. Could you share how this happened so we know the signs to look out for.

The only time I've sold a car private I insisted I would only take a bankers draught if I went to the bank with him and watched the cashier write it out there and then. He agreed, and anyone genuine would agree too. Made the whole process far easier for us both. Once cheque in my hand, keys were placed in his.

Wow!! Hope you get your car back mate!! You said he was Irish? Pikey? Your car will probs be running on fake plates now and more than likely nowhere near the area it was took from, my friend had his golf r stolen from Eccles Manchester last year, took it from his drive, I really can’t believe the cheek of some people like someone said above, if you want a nice car work hard for it like the rest of us! Good luck and I hope you get it back!!

Sorry to hear that . Might be in Ireland now .
Perhaps the police will need liaise with Irish police .
What is the score with your insurance ? Hope you are covered .

Unlikely if he's been deceived into letting someone driving the car off, if there was a threat of or actual violence then he might be covered. Terrible thing that happened, I really feel for you :(

That is what I also fear for him . Seems very unfair as theft is theft . The last car I dealt with , both of us had nationwide accounts , so we went into nationwide and transferred the money so we were both happy and secure .

Yep, I sold my Q5 through a dealer on a sale or return deal. Was a bit nerve-racking (I did research online about them to make sure they're kosher first; a company called Targa Florio cars based near Portsmouth) but went through smoothly. You may get paid less than selling private but they're much more likely to sell higher value cars as they can offer part ex, finance etc which as a private seller you simply can't offer. I was getting ridiculous cash offers on Auto Trader when I tried to sell myself which simply wouldn't work when you still owe over 90% of the value of the car to a finance company!

The dealer paid off the outstanding finance directly to Audi and then anything over that (not much but over a grand) was transferred to my bank account.

That's how Tootle worked as well when selling my S3. Didn't really want the "hassle" of selling privately or the inherent risk with it. So tried Tootle for the first time and very easy. Got more than part ex but less than selling privately. Worked well for them as they were then able to sell the car about 5 days later. Good business model for them.

That's what it's called, I tried them too but couldn't remember what they were called so left it out! Didn't work out for me, offers were simply too low (less than what I owed Audi Finance) so sale or return through Targa Florio worked better for me.

They promised one price and when it came to it dropped it somewhat (I suspect this is common practice) and also I got a Dart charge fine when they weren't supposed to be driving my car around without my consent! Other than that it was a good experience.

I suppose it does vary from car to car, area to area etc. Initial offers were quite low but I contacted the highest bidder and said my figure I'd accept and they agreed. Came to my house, sorted all paperwork and drove it away. All sorted in 20 minutes. Rung up Audi finance there and then to confirm the payment.

I was glad to see my car go, it was a diesel Q5 just when dieselgate was developing (in fact it had the software update just before I sold it)

Served its purpose but was just too expensive (£550 pm)

£550 on a car? I'm in the wrong job!

Would be useful if OP could let us know what happened in order to spread the word and help prevent what happened to other people. Doesn't excuse what happened.

Unfortunately Theft by deception isn't technically theft and therefore not covered by insurance - used to happen when people wrote out stolen cheques etc

Don't shoot me down here but say the buyer was genuine and there was a case where a seller was claiming the car was stolen after a cash payment and the seller happened to not sign the log book? looking back I have bought banger cars in the past and have been just given the green slip. …. Just saying...…..
