My engine light has just come on on the way to work I bought the car just over 2 weeks ago. I bought it used from lookers Audi so I assume I would have Audi assist. I’ve tried plugging carista in but I needed to update it and didn’t have time to hang around as I needed to get to into work.

Should I ring Audi assist and get the car recovered as who knows what could be wrong. It didn’t seem to go into limp mode as I was doing 70mph when I noticed it

Any advice welcome. Thanks

You are saying the car is drivable yes and did the warning stay on after restarting the engine? You may be able to get a Audi technician out to plug in their diagnostics...

Yes it’s driveable. It come back on after restarting the car. Ideally don’t want to drive it incase it turns into something serious

There coming out between 4-5. Got to say there Audi assist service seems fantastic !!

AA are here and he’s logged as a dpf fault. Was 24mg of soot so he’s doing a regen.

The car has regenerated a couple times since owning it so there’s obvious something a miss. Will be going into Audi at the first chance.

Along with all the small faults I’m probably going to reject the car

Good luck, hope it's resolved in your favour...

There was no other fault. Just dpf, it has regenerated a couple of times since owning it. Maybe every 200 mile witch seems short as my a3 done it every 260-300 miles depending depending on if it was winter or summer.

I’ve sent a email to my salesman with intentions to reject it.

Will they put me into a car untill they find another ?? Or will I have to get one my self

If bought under the Audi Approved Used Car Scheme you should have a 30 day, 1000 mile assurance. If an appreciable fault develops during this period, the car can be rejected and the onus is on the supplying dealer to find a similar car with similar spec, mileage, etc. The deciding factor will be what is classed as an appreciable fault, your definition may not be the same as the dealer!

How old was your A3? I went from a 2011 golf TDI to a 2015 golf TDI which is a newer Euro emission compliant engine and it regens a lot more often than the previous generation. Its never thrown a DPF warning light though, but it does good and hot on a 30 mile each way commute.

Whats your normal journeys like?

2014 reg. my commute is only 17 each way but never had a problem with the a3 or insignia I had. Even this one has done regents. But today it didn’t try as it was due on as it had done 208 since the last one. But something has gone wrong for it not to start causing the fault. But the guy said nothing else has flagged like a sensor or anything.
