What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

Don't know about snow foam being overrated
But to me them water filters are too anal/ocd for me, l just don't wash my car in direct sunlight

Try living in a hard water area mate - you’d change your tune pretty quickly then! The filter actually allows you to be less OCD. Makes the whole process much more relaxed and enjoyable, so worth every penny for me - one of those things you wonder how you managed without TBH. You get nice soft water up in Bonny Scotland though, so not a 1st world problem for you.

Completely agree, as irrespective of sunshine or not, water just runs off so much easier, and no horrible drip water marks from roofline or mirrors etc.

Don’t knock it till you have tried it

Oh no mate, hope you feel better soon
Thanks, my partner mention the dreaded SUV word today and perhaps it would be easier just to have one vehicle. Dammed right I will get better rapidly after saying that. Just need the results of the scan's I have been having so I know where I am, it is a pain though, literally, to keep an eye on the car for bird poop, as it is a very stationary target, and go out and clean it off. Can happen several times in the day lol...

Deal, but probably next spring now - spent a fortune on new detailing gear already this year - and just pulled the trigger on a new pressure washer and lance, so I really should rein it in a bit. By the time next spring comes around I’ll also hopefully have plucked up the courage to do what @q5man has just done. The whole DA thing is a wee bit scary for those with no experience!

There’s no placebo effect with the water filter mate. Difference is night and day - no water spots. None.

Stunning, simply stunning Fran. That rear quarter panel on the second photo. Wow. Bet Desire Red on the Leon is very satisfying to work with. Bit of a busman’s holiday for you though pal - is it tough to find the motivation to work on your own car having spent all week pampering those of customers?!

Thanks mate, yeah I’ve been promising to do it for a while but finally got round to doing it as it kept looking at me and ocd took over lol, Uewj it’s a mega satisfying colour to polish but that paint was like concrete lol, rotary, wool pad plus Koch chemie H8 were out on it, tough old paint on it but once I cracked it looked awesome it can be hard sometimes to find the motivation after being busy all week to be fair lol

Not anal enough to consider myself a detailer but I do have a DI filter that I've just spent too much money on refilling. Also bought some silicone wiper blades just as the sun comes out.

Have to say that gold SEAT badge looks sweet. Is that factory spec on Cupra's now, or have you wrapped? Front splitter is a nice touch too. Nice looking motor you've got there pal :thumbs up:

Think I've got the measure of TAC Systems Tyre Gel now. It is odd stuff, seems to like being dabbed on (rather than wiped), left for 5 minutes, then levelled off with a wipe of the same bit of sponge you've used to apply, leave for 15 mins to cure, then repeat the process - got some good results with this method tonight and finally think I 'get it'.

5 hours of 'zen' restoring time detailing this afternoon/evening (2 hours on hers, 3 hours on mine). Ruddy love the longer evenings.

Looking very very tidy @Jimbob76, but where is the shot of the tac coated tyres? Evidence innit.

More to the point, where are @Scotty75 's pics of his wheels off efforts today???

First clean for the new wagon today.

Maintenance wash finished with EZ boss gloss. Race glaze alloy sealant for the wheels and meguairs endurance for the tyres.

Inside treated the leather with some autoglym leather balm.

Loving the midnight blue but its going to need regular attention.

Another 8 hours in the sun well worth it though. Tackled the rusty wheel hubs and the dull brake calipers.

Been bleeding funds lately so didn't bother with able stands or trolley Jack. Went with the good old scissor Jack. In hindsight would have been quicker and probably easier with a trolley Jack etc.

Used Hammerite Silver Smooth on the hubs and Etech Red for the calipers. The Hammerite is lovely to work with, goes on really well and dries quickly . Especially in the sun. Most impressed and barely used any , even with doing three coats.

The Etech is good enough but quite runny and a bit of a pain to apply if I'm honest. Trouble is getting enough on without it running everywhere. The supplied brush was poop. Luckily I'd bought two half inch brushes from Wickes which were perfect.

Three coats of Etech applied and I'm happy with the results. Though , if I were to do it again I'd probably use Hammerite in the calipers too as it really is good .

Unfortunately er indoors isn't so stuck on the new look......... You'll have to excuse the dirty A3 . It was either wash the car or do the painting .......,

Looking good scotty I was already planning to get hammerite smooth red for calipers, but you have sealed it. Had a chat with my neighbour this morning, he has a couple trolley jacks, a torque wrench and stands
