What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Had a new windscreen fitted, then finally got round to fitting new wipers......can see where I'm going now :whistle2:

Drove car to Blackpool get egr fitted due to cheap one fitted 2yrs ago. Not paying steelers £900 but £600 for genuine Audi one with oil cooler saved £300 squids

Fitted latest rev DV Valve and PCV Valve.

Also got around to fitting new Ramair intake...just on the hunt now for a TTS cover, or may cut the original as lets be honest the 2.0tfsi is a bit fugly.

If you haven't had the Induction kit mapped in, then you will probably get a fault code soon as the MAF won't be able to accurately work out the air flow due to the larger diameter pipework.

Well this week was close to being the end for the s3 however a bit of help from here and sheer luck. A dsg service and sump plate sorted it.

This week I've done full service.

Oil,filters spark plugs also new pilot sport 4 tyres (can't recommend these enough)

This week the build starts new brake disks, padso, braided lines, coilovers and anti roll bars front and rear.

Ready for some track days.

Hopefully soon the power build will start soon. Still trying to decide if I'm gping Apr or mrc.

Thanks for the heads up. The car has a map from the previous owner, can the map be adjusted just to compensate the intake, or would it need a full new map doing?

You can try it without another map, but the likes of R-tech tune the car for the extra airflow and re-calibrate the MAF so it doesn't log any faults.
if you get a light on the dash and reduced performance, you know why.

Damn Coolant leak! Greeted me after a short drive to the shops. Coming back to the car big puddle. Limped it home slowly as I wasn't too far from home the car had just warmed up when I got there.

Looks like somewhere passenger side on the radiator. Could be the end tank or bottom hose that side. Couldn't get a good look due to the diffuser up front but can see a little through the front grill. No oil in coolant so a good relief so probably looking at a hose replacement or radiator replacement .

Going to book her into my VAG garage close by. Will just limp her there after filling it up with distilled water and carrying some spare with me. 3.8mi about a 10min drive.

Gutted as I hadn't taken her out for 3 weeks. Guess she doesn't like sitting around. Let's see how much more miss vr6 costs me.

No offence, but they look awful and when the heat melts that stuff on to the exhaust tips they will look even worse.
Really bad idea and in a worst case scenario, they could catch fire!

hi, thanks for your comments, im not sure how hard you drive but the tips on my exhaust do not get hot ,
If you have a straight through exhaust or a decat etc you'll feel the real heat from the exhaust and it can be pretty hot i done my centre console and ash tray and the ash tray peeled up when we had 25 degree weather lol so for a fact theyll definatly peel off if not melt.
your better off buying tips for 50 squids if u don't want to buy a full back box with black or carbon tips or just spray them black with heat resistant paint will still.look better than that but that's my 2p opinion end of the day its your pride and joy, rule of thumb plastic and heat dont play well

I dont think you can split the rear lenses. I think someone tried it but didn't go very well! Try asking T8ups. He's the light man/God!

Car back from mechanic. New radiator installed due to leak on it, damn stones. All good and gave her a vigorous celebratory drive around some bendies.

Took a drive up to AKS Tuning to pick up parts and service the S3, new oil filter, oil, fuel filter, pollen filter, changed the rocker cover gasket with all new bolts as previous had knackered rubber seals due to engine bay heat and start leaking over the exhaust mani.
Installed the double plate turbo heat shield to help keep the intake cooler(hope it works but looks cool too ) some.new iridum plugs you can see how bad my current ones were .
Also replace the oil pick up pipe whilst sump was empty before new oil and replaced the orange dipstick w/ housing for revised yellow version, really brought the car back to life a lot quiter and alive when the pedal goes down. Wallet is kind of hurt though all thats left is a dsg service and arbs, alk, pro alloy intercooler and a stage 2+ aswell as decat

Restored the tail lights, as they had somehow become really scratched and dull, and didn't match the rear lights (on a Sportback).

Thanks! I loosely followed Chris Fix's video (on YouTube) on restoring tail lights. 400 and 2000 grit wet-sanding, then clear coat spray.

Brilliant, yeah he's got some good tutorials. Soapy wooder and blinker fluid go a long way :tearsofjoy: Good work!

Got a four wheel alignement done a few weeks ago. This weekend did a full exterior spring detail, wash decontamination, polish, scealant and wax. Still have some paint touch up to do but overall it looks not too bad for an almost 8 years old car!

Fitted a front parking camera with an auto switch box.
Camera is mounted in the audi rings.
The auto switch box switches from the reverse camera to the front camera for around 8seconds after youve come out of reverse. Alternatively you can turn the front camera on manually using a switch I've mounted in the ashtray.

Total cost was £35

I’ve got the same headunit as you, think I might install a reverse camera after seeing that Video.
Where did you connect the cables to, I’m sure I’ve read before that a cable goes from the reverse camera up to the unit and also to the reverse light iirc?
Also where did you get your rear camera from?
I’ve never been really bothered about doing it but I’m quite impressed with the quality after seeing your video.

Power cable is connected to the the rear wiper 12v.
Video cable goes along the headlining, down the a pillar, behind glove box into the unit.
You don't need to touch the reverse light wiring as the units canbus adapter provides the reverse trigger to the unit. Wiring wise its easy.

Camera is a 110x30mm handle camera for audis eg

That does sound easy, I’ve ran cables that way already as I installed a roof antenna for dab so that’s an easy job.
Can you remember what colour the rear wiper 12v cable is and did you have to connect it to a ground point? Also did you have any trouble threading the cables through into the boot lid?

Brown iirc. But get a 12v test lamp, only a couple quid on ebay and test the wires to see which is on with ignition.

Only really tricky bit about the boot is the boot grommit. Proper way is to go inside the grommet, but I took the easy way out and went outside it. Been fine for a year but not as clean. Can't see it anyway as the plastic trim covers it.

Handle might need a little fettling. On my car I needed to add a shim between the microswitch and the piece it contacts on the handle. On another car it needed that as well as a new hole drilled for the mounting screw on the handle.

Its not a hard job just time consuming
