I’m new to this forum, I’m considering ordering a new A6 Avant, I’ve had one before but I hate the fake exhausts that so many current manufacturers are putting on current models. I’d be surprised to see this trend phased out when a face-lift model comes in in a couple of years.

In the meantime has anyone retrofitted a genuine exhaust system onto this shape A6?

I’m not too bothered if it’s single or dual tip pipes, the ones from the last shape face-lift were a good look, have no idea why they are now going for fake tips on the bumper.

The only way you could change it is to purchase aftermarket exhausts and rear valance or have a custom made setup. Either way it will not be cheap...

I think this is the only negative in the design of the C8.

One thing I really don't like on a lot of these new cars. When your driving behind and see a nice shaped, shiny exhaust and notice a little dirty pea shooter in the middle.

On the C7.5, which introduced the fake tailpipes to the A6/7 models, I’ve seen duel pipe exhausts installed without any modification to the rear valence.

Pic shows an A6 with twin AWE on original valance (with the fake chrome tips removed) so it should be possible to swap. May be some lead time until aftermarket becomes available since it’s still a relatively new model.

I have no problem with the new fake exhaust styling, i actually like them and easier to keep- clean, much better than some that look like an unfinished plumbing job on the older cars. Now the twin exhausts on sporty cars i like.

Yep for me too they suit some cars:

With our "electric" future we're going to see less and less of the exhaust pipes - as demonstrated by many of 2029 Audi cars - everything is gonna have to look exhaust-less...

.......as above that's exactly what the dealer told me when I asked. Down to the electric version & of course it saves money having just one type.

I have to say I really don't like fake exhausts because everyone knows its fake rendering it pointless. Either design the bumper so it looks nice without exhaust tips, or put proper exhaust tips in there!

+1 to SeanChadwick2k3 as well. The RS4 having nice big oval holes in the bumper to realise there are dirty standard tips behind it. Come on Audi, these are very expensive cars...do it properly!!

One of the things which drew me to the black edition is that the fake exhaust tips are in black I believe so aren't as obvious.
