Just looking at Audi dealer stock, it seems there are only three used 184 quattro models available in the UK. Pretty scarce, any idea as to why?

Juts realised I had the box ticked for BE, so maybe not as scarce. However there are considerably more petrol variant BE’s available compared to the diesel version.

The quattro 184ps are pretty pricey as well mate. I got an S3 cheaper (just over £30k), new price that is.

Yep, I know you can get good deals on the S3, better residual value too I’m told. I’d love one, but after reading so many stories about attempted thefts on here etc it puts me off. I can’t be doing with the worry. Having one pinched of the drive is one thing but the potential of violence to my family whilst trying to get the keys is something else.

Considering how many S3s there are out there, what's the chance of it being stolen or attempted... Its not a ferrari where you see one for every 1000 other cars. Also on an Audi forum you're going to hear about every other audi theft, go on a BMW forum and it's probably the same thing.

If you're that worried then have a wheel lock as a detterant or something. I've only known one person to have a car stolen and it was a fiesta st.. Any car can be stolen...

I think its rather sad (in the emotional sense) that you'd be so put off buying a mass produced car because of the slim chance of it being stolen. Now if you live in a place where every night 10 S3s were stolen, only S3s and no other car.. Then fair enough. But such place doesn't exist.

If you would love one and financially can.. Then do it :D

Well said. I initially felt like the OP for the first year of s3 ownership but then began to think like the above, got a steering lock and got on with it. Love it. Apart from when people hit me in car parks without leaving details.

Park it out of sight of passing traffic and buy gap insurance.

I have the 184 diesel quattro and love it. S3 can't have a towbar so that's out the window for me anyway.

I also have a 184 diesel. Best A3 out of the 10 I have owned. I will be changing it in the near future for the Q3 190 diesel which should be here in August.

I think that would feel a bit too sluggish for me after this car. 8 second 0-60 compared to 6.5 or so for this one.

I have the 190bhp 2.0tdi Quattro in my Q2. It’s a beast. You are going to enjoy that Q3 :icon thumright:
