As the title states, I’m thinking of getting the car clear wrapped to protect the paint, or maybe just the front bumper/bonnet area. Has anyone on here used or know someone who has used paint protection film for their car?
If so, is it worth it? How much did you pay? I couldn’t see anything using the search button. Thanks

As you know it's expensive real expensive.... But again that was for Xpel ... Which is the best or was the best 18 months ago, there are cheaper products out there though

Yeah I think the cost may out weigh the benefits for me. I don’t do many motorway miles in the car either. Il ask around for some prices for just the front end

I have it done on my current car and wouldn’t bother again. Front bumper has been done 3 times due to the film lifting...and it’s doing it again. Foreign bodies under the film, hairs, never expected to carry the installers dna around with me! Some edges/corners where the film is wrapped over the edge are visible. Flat panels where the film is trimmed to the edge are ok though but on the sills it’s lifted. Bubbles under the film can take a hell of a long time to go. Film does look glossy is a positive and very easy to keep clean.

This was done by an Xpel approved installer and Xpel have agreed the job is not up to standard and offered to redo it but as I’m selling the car I’ve put it down to experience. Had nearly the whole car done which cost me £2.7k, except roof, rear bumper, boot lid. Front end will be around 800-1200 I’d have thought.

If you do get it done ask to see the installers work, make sure the environment is spotlessly clean or has an extraction system as the film is a dirt magnet during install.

I’ll live with the chips from now on and touch them in when they appear.

That doesn't sound good. Maybe the problem was with the installers rather than the system? I know some of the Bloggers get their cars PPF'd and always get a good job. Is expensive mind. On something exotic I could justify it. But on an A3? Not a chance.

You don't say what Country you are in ???

If your in the USA ???

The answer is yes I have and as soon as my 2019 RS3 arrives I'm having it done again.

See link below and I am doing the Full Front End with the clear-wrap.
Then the whole RS3 in the CQuartz Ceramic Pro ," Reserve Finest".

Definitely the installer was poor. Just wanted to point out that just because they say they are Xpel accredited means diddly squat. If the OP goes for it then a little bit of homework might save him the issues I’ve had. If I lived in the middle of the country I’d have picked an installer off of detailingworld as they are proud of the work they do but I’m out in the sticks. I did check out my installer on faceache and it was all positive but I never saw any of his wraps. Lesson learnt!

Xpel is quality film from what I have heard and read, BUT, it comes down to the installer/deatail shop for guarantees and fit, as hood lines etc. are a pain to get installed with no visual defects. Not cheap either. If, I did a lot of motorway driving, I might look at covering the front, but I am an old fashioned and retired dude who enjoys detailing his car.

Sorry I thought the number plate on my avatar would have given the location Away.

I didn’t realise it was this expensive so il give it a miss for now until I win the lottery! I guess I should actually play it to increase my chances ‍♂️
