Hi,

Been asked a few times for these from people fitting grill without number plate plinths.

Literally clips over the crash bar making it blend in.

Do you know if it’s possible to get rid of the foam pedestrian airbag and then fit this on the crash bar to cover the shiny metal?

I have retrofitted a replica RS3 grill on my pfl car and could not replace the foam bit behind the grill.Kind of a mystery as to why not.Now there is the whole radiator on show plus I had to spray the support bar in black, but still pleased with the result.

Where did you get your grill from? I can't seem to find any anymore that have the Audi rings holder. They're all badgeless!

Got it on eBay from china

Pedestrian protection is a core safety feature of the vehicle. Impossible to remove this without the dash lighting up like an xmas tree.

No errors whatsoever djalix

... you did not remove the pedestrian protection according to your post so yer...

edit: or did you mean that you removed it and did not replace it? If this then you did not have pedestrian protection to start with, not all cars do.

I removed the polystyrene strip which goes across the number plate region plus the plastic cover that goes across the crash bar.there were no sensors, hence the reason why there were no errors. Its an S-Line model, perhaps the S3 and RS3 have these sensors or its an Audi optional safety device

My thoughts also. I cut some of the polystyrene off to make room for my new grill and that triggered the airbag light and I had to turn it off with OBDeleven (I was dumb enough to forget to remove the negative wire from the battery during this procedure...).

I didn't need to do anything with my OEM Grill retrofit. Fitted grill, clipped on crash bar cover, clipped in parking sensors, refitted bumper.

And you got the polystyrene airbag as well?

That's what you get for buying OEM :thumbs up:

Are mine just missing the part OP is talking about? (Other than it might be shaped differently).

The crasher cover is this part here:

Although there are two securing screws on each side I am not sure if this cover would even be compatible with a 3rd party grill and anything other than OEM might not have the middle section "securing lugs" / tabs built in, which push through the cover in question, and are then secured via the metal pressure clips:

If you look at an OEM grill side on it has a pretty big curve to it. The photo you have posted makes your grill look very flat, and what's going on with that plastic thing below your Audi rings.... is that where you stick the badge?

I don't think it's compatible either...

The plastic thing is removed and then you just click the badge on. Being a 3rd party grill it's actually quite good quality but of course it's no way near the OEM quality and fitment.

What do you guys do with an aftermarket RS grill when your car has the center crash sensor behind the numberplate holder on the OEM grill? The aftermarket doesn't have a slot for the holder, so is it a tie wrap job or can it be relocated to a new place?

Thanks
Ash

Alternatively, can it be coded out? leaving just the left/right sensor, as most the videos on youtube seem to have this configuration.
