Hi, I'm currently gathering parts/part numbers for rebuilding the suspension on my 2001 2.5tdi quattro sport saloon.
I need to decide between Lemforder or Meyle, the problem I have is that Lemforder have part numbers for the 'sport' suspension and 'standard' which isn't an issue and I have the 'sport' suspension part numbers but I can't seem to find the equivalent for Meyle. This also applies to the suspension 'kits', I have the Lemforder part number for the sport link 'kit', '31913 01' which is correct as far as I can tell, but Meyle have one part number '116 050 0083/HD' for the 2.5tdi quattro and not a different part number for the sport version.
Can anyone shed some light on this or am I missing something obvious?
Also, if anyone has rebuilt the suspension on the same car as mine and has a list of Meyle part numbers plus any advice etc it would be much appreciated.
I hope all that makes sense and thanks in advance.

I'd stick with Lemforder as it's OEM, & easy to source.
I replaced most of the front suspension on my A4 B6 130 Sport Avant during my ownership, & on many of the Lemforder parts you could see where they had partly ground the Audi logo off .
Nothing wrong with the Meyle stuff though if you can find the correct parts.

Rebuilt the suspension on a B5 2.5 TDI Avant quattro sport. Lemforder stuff is excellent, but I fitted Meyle HD. If this is your main car, organise back up transport. Suspension work never goes to plan, in terms of time, tools and ease of fitting.

If I remember rightly I had to drop the forward subframe a little to fit the lower arms. Top arms were straight forward, assuming pinch bolt comes out. Only torque upper arms once the car is in the ground.

Draper coil spring compressors are excellent. Laser ones are good, but thread on Draper compressor is better. Be careful, as the springs on these cars are fairly heavy duty.

When you say rebuilding the suspension, are we talking just the control arms and links etc or springs and gas struts ? I did control arms and links on mine and used the Meyle HD and it was an excellent bit of kit as I'm sure the Lemforder is but I just couldn't justify the extra price

Thanks for all the advice, I’ll be going with the Lemforder kit I think just because I don’t want to take the chance of bits not fitting. I have all the gear to do the job and have done the same on a E36 M3 a few years ago, so hopefully it won’t be too bad and I’ll document it if possible.
