Does anybody know if coming home lights is possible on 2011 8p3 halogen/ no auto lights switch installed.
Is it just coding or running wire pin 12 to earth? Or is it not possible on the later a3 models???

You need auto lights as far as I’m aware

From what I can tell, it works from the ambient light sensor so it comes on at night.
Without this sensor it won't know when it's light or dark and probably won't activate. Seems like a lot of effort if you plan to fit that unless you are upgrading to 'Auto lights' at the same time.

Did I remember correctly you dont need auto lights, the lights will just come on all the time rather than only at night, but you do need certain lights.

Loads of info in the 8p vcds thread

auto lights MY2010 onwards only. MY09 is coding, anything less than MY09 is the wire.

You need to have auto lights and assistance lights activated in vcd

Automatic lights means your headlights automatically come on and off when ambient lighting drops to a set level.

With auto lights you do not have to manually turn on your headlights, they ‘automatically’ turn on/off depending on ambient light.

I don't have that , I need to turn my switch , just found it strange that all the ch/ lh are ticked in Vcd's and I didn't do it , is there a way through the DiS

You can only do ‘manual’ coming home on halogens with no ambient light sensor. On mine after I switch off engine and before opening the door I can flick the high beam and my front fogs and rear park lights come on for about a minute and then dim. I use this often.
