What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

I would say that the beading is slowing down mate on the flat panels but not on vertical panels like the doors mate if you want honesty, but it's still good.
For instance If l fire on some gyeon wet etc etc on to the bonnet of my car water repellency is far better

Ps the flat panels are always the first to relinquish water repellency
fair enough mate, but what I should add is that that was PRE wash, and car was filthy. I would imagine after pre-wash/snowfoam, and 2 bucket, water run off would be much more severe/impressive....Equally, if any form of wax/BSD, wet coat again would be even more impressive....I will take 2 on that :whistle2:

Wet coat is exactly the same as carpro hydro mate, steer well clear of those types, just washing up liquid and silk coat or reload

What's wrong with the likes of wet coat etc etc

With a normal coating absolutely nowt but UNC-R is a rubber membrane nano coating, the likes of wet coat, hydro etc clog up the coating

I know mate, you told me not to use hydro, or wet coat, so I don't, was just using those as example.
I still struggle to think I can use Fairy washing up liquid :wtf:

Ahem.......

Against the advice of some here I used fairy liquid the other weekend . Didn't go mad with it but used it in my snowfoam Lance and in the wash bucket . To be totally honest it did a fine job .

Won't be making a habit of it but as I was waiting for my order from Imran it got me out of spending money I didn't need to .

Blimmin heck - after reading this lot I'm scared to polish my car!!! There I was happy with (one) bucket of suds, a Halfords sponge, a quick rinse with Essex rock-hard water and finishing with a "shammy" leather. :sadlike:

Only heard about the 2 bucket method perusing the forum after getting my first Audi a couple of weeks ago. So I've relegated the sponges for wheels only, got two buckets a couple of MF mitten things, a heap of MF cloths for drying!. Gonna use up the Auto-Glym shampoo the missus bought for my birthday and the last of the AG wax and then try one of the washes/waxes mentioned on here :readit:

Good man learning curve it is, but l ain't a believer of the two bucket method myself if I get guff on the mitt etc etc l just rinse it off with a hose saves dragging 2 buckets around a car

Here we go then - using the @jassyo06 one bucket approach (!!), ordinary water (haven't bought a Vyair yet!) and a nice bit of AutoGlym wax and here she is. Pretty pleased - managed to polish out some surface scratches after a loony in a LR Disco forced me into a hedge on the way home from work!

Good work fella - have to say I have a soft spot for Navarra. Not sure my OCD could live with keeping it looking great though (but that says more about me  ). Navarra looks best with the chrome trim rather than the black pack IMO. Nice saloon you have there pal.

Not sure what the water hardness is like in your neck of the woods, but with a dark coloured car like yours, I can heartily recommend a de-ionised water filter (Raceglaze or Vyair). Makes the process much more relaxing and enjoyable. In the summer months, if your panels are warm, you don't have to rush around drying it as quickly as possible to avoid water spots. Just rinse, chill and have a cuppa, and then crack on with wax/quick detailer once you've dried the car in a less frenetic manner. In the winter, when it's cold enough to freeze the t1ts off a witch, just rinse, walk away and let it air dry while your enjoying a nice brew inside by the fire. :thumbs up:(or if you're doing 'er indoors' car, lol).

Loads of Scottish chaps on here - they don't have to worry about hardness, the stuff that comes out of their pipes is like purified Evian, lol. (too many double entendre opportunities with that sentence!)

It's a Pandora's box this detailing lark - embrace your inner OCD (Obsessive Car Detailer) and enjoy mate!

Another victim of the detailing bug. Only known cure is frequenting the detailing forums here , buying lots of products and buying a DA polisher

Now wheel hubs!! Yes, I’d noticed the front two seem to have surface rusting/discolouring - what’s the fix for that??

Wheels off, hub corrosion removed as far as possible with wire brush/wire wool/sandpaper, then repainted with Hammerite Smooth Silver. Have next week off work, so will document the process in detail with pics and share (I’m sure @jassyo06 cant wait, lol)

And what are you getting next?!

I feel ashamed to admit here, but an M140i. As much as I love Audi the deals on a new M140i make it look an absolute bargain compared to an S3.

Totally agree - same with nearly new ones - absolute bargains. In the end it was the S3 saloon styling that clinched it for me....

I do prefer the S3 as a car, but it's hard to turn down a brand new M140i for the price of a 118i. Also S3 insurance for me was over £2k, the M140i is "only" £875.

Driven the M140i and every other Msport/M car the 140i is a potent machine and sounds very nice, a all round good car mate, what colour have you chosen

It’s going to be quite the jump from my 140hp TDI that’s for sure.

Shadow edition in Sapphire Black, Black leather, and the grey wheels. So pretty much the same as what I have now colour scheme wise.

Sounds like a great deal you got there, unfortunately sometimes the "sensible" side with money does come in to play! I know what you mean about power, I went from a 1.25 fiesta to a S3, definitely couldn't go down to a significantly slower car again now ...

Cheers!

The D&D/BSD mix is much easier to apply than just BSD.
It's the original D&D I used, not the newest one.
