Has anyone done this or know about any improvements in the note?

I'm thinking about getting it done....would appreciate any tips/advice/recommendations.

i'm quite the noob in terms of mods!

I'm a noob too, got it done (used BCS/Powervalve pipe from @Mark_86). Definitely improves the note! Quite loud (and drones) with the exhausts valves open on 70mph+ cruising, I would suggest you try it out with the valves closed to begin with then see if you want to open them. People turn around when I drive past, especially with gearbox in S as it's much louder then.

@HertS3 does the drone annoy you?


any pops or crackles from it? or should that not be expected from a Res delete.

You get used to the drone but I'm worried it's a bit too loud for my kids in the back seat. Having said that, I don't do many motorway miles so it's not that bad really.

Yeah any noises that the car made before are just magnified, also when it changes gear you get this sort of rattle bang which is awesome

You can feel the vibration from the exhaust throughout the car when accelerating

I've had the VAGSport Res Delete done on my Pre-FL S3 Saloon and I would highly recommend, sounds much deeper & the farts between changing are much louder.

Although I would advise opening the exhaust flaps first to see if you're happy with that.

The res delete does drone on the motorway but nothing too major, its to be expected as you're removing the resonator but I have the valves open too.

The anti drone pipe that we offer is only defined as drone free with the flaps active.
If you want a proper fully developed system with zero drone I would suggest the Powervalve boost actuated variable tone system ;-)

is this a pre facelift?

also...when you say drone free with flaps active....what do you mean?

I'm not planning on changing settings on the flaps. mine are and will be stock..does that mean they are active?

Yes it's PFL.
He means it'll only be anti drone if you leave the exhaust valves on the default setting, i.e. open and close. If you haven't hard coded your valves permanently open like I have or manually unplugged them then the pipe will be anti drone (as the valves are closed up to 3500 - 4000 rpm) so you'll only really get the non resonated sound when you put foot down. Basically whatever noise you get now you'll get with the res delete pipe but louder
