So, been reading a bit about this new ‘wonderful’ law coming in 2022.
If I keep the S4, which so far I plan to do so, with it having a camera and assistance systems, will a dealer update limit the speed?

One of the daftest laws I’ve seen passed in my42 years on the planet, it will do little to ban the stupidity of incapable and dangerous drivers.

Thoughts welcomed!
 
Unlikely - based on past experience such legislation is applied to vehicles sold as new after a certain date.

Yep, that's what the legislation states, all new cars. Nothing about it being retro fitted to older vehicles...
 
Doubt it will work backwards so current cars ok imho. Strangest thing I've heard of as it will kill performance cars dead.

Though maybe they will forget to regulate acceleration - blinding acceleration will be our only pleasure left...
 
It can only be electronically limited anyway so where there is software.....there's an ability to manipulate and remove.
 
From the articles I’ve read, they stated it will have a button like start/stop. The car will start automatically in the restricted mode and we will have to press the button to switch it off.

I’m sure I read as well (could have imagined it) that when the car goes in for a service or MOT that this feature will be checked, so if we were to code it out or to not automatically switch on I’m guessing the dealership would have to re-code it or it will fail its MOT.

The way it’s heading it’s only a matter of time before they enforce black boxes onto all of us :blownose:
 
I can see it now, owners of new cars being tailgated by older cars who don't want to stick to the speed limit - great.
