Whats up guys,

Who here has done the IS20 turbo or IS38 turbo to there A3, looking for feedback to see which one would be a better platform for me.

Im looking for more usable power in the beginning and mid range not really at top end but I know the IS20 is smaller and should give that but does the IS38 have more power there as well as better overall drivablity?
 
The general consensus is the IS20 will be better for daily drivability, with just a bit more lag than the original IS12 but improved mid range and top end power.

The IS38 will be slower to spool up than the IS20, but will give you the most top end power.

Don't forget, both IS20 and IS38 are designated for the 2.0 engines which have higher exhaust volumetric flow than a 1.8. I personally think the IS38 is oversized for the 1.8, the lag may be intrusive for good daily drivability especially with the S-tronic (taller gear ratios).

Thanks so much for the info, yeah I am leaning towards the IS20 as it is cheaper and also more drivable as you said.
