I seen on forums that there was an 10 year extended warranty for some Audi's that had problems with the Manifold. I mainly seen this mentioned on american sites and I've seen vin checkers but it only checks american cars.

I have a problem with the mainfold sensor and Audi want £600 to replace as below. they have my car and want to know by tomorrow if I want to go ahead with the job. They said there was no recalls on my car when I mentioned this, the rep said they had been there 5 years and that they've never heard of anything like it or warranties being extended by that length of time.

Fault log: Intake manifold runner position sensor, requires a new intake manifold flap valve (sensor) valve and 2 hoses to be replaced.

Now could it be possible my car could fall under the extended warranty I mentioned? How much would I be looking at with an independent? or is it possible to DIY?

I posted my vcds results before in another thread but will copy and paste the fault code I got.

As i understand it, recalls are issued by the countries importers not audi. so audi UK will issue a recall in the UK but that will not affect audi USA for example. Years ago when we all had major problems with the A3 3.2 V6 cam chain the Germans found the fault, the Americans recalled the model and Audi UK denied there was a problem. That's how it works. eventually Audi UK reviewed peoples claims on an individual basis and some people got "help" with the costs but Audi never admitted there was a problem over here but in the US it was all done for nothing.

Do you guys think I can get the job cheaper else where? I tried explaining over the phone the problem but the garages are unable to give me a quote.

One put me on hold for 10 minutes, then another 5 before I hung up.

Audi said the part is £130 and each hose is £25 each.. the rest is labour of 2.8 hours they estimated... £630 they want. I got to let them know by the end of the day

No idea, I don't know what area you are in and what rates local garages charge.
Your best bet is to get in touch with some and see what they quote you.

Since I got a diagnostic done should I be able to get a report on the issue, parts that need to be replaced etc?

what engine code have you got, and what year is your car? i can attach the workshop guide for it, see if its something you feel you could tackle yourself

Hi,

Thanks, I wouldn't mind having a look to see if I could tackle it.

I just looked at my V5 next to engine number the first 3 letters are CCZ. My car is a 58 plate but I believe it's referred to as 2009 onward model as Audi referred to it as that before and when I checked my vin on a part site for a part a long time ago it came up as a 2009 model then as well.

My car from v5 is A3 sline 197 TFSI S-A (or what we normally call 2.0 TFSI)

looks like itd be number 5 or 6 to replace.
attached is the guide on removing the intake manifold

Thanks a lot for posting this. Been busy the last few days so just seeing it now. I'll have a look/read.

HOSE - WN 020 353 27

Hi, I'm looking back into this as the engine light went away but it's came back on and I've got to get my MOT in under 2 weeks.

I was just looking up the part number for the valve (VALVE - W06H 906 283 B) and on some listings where it mentions compatible cars the Audi A3 isn't mentioned but other models are. Do you think it will still fit? I mean I would assume so since this information was from an Audi quote.

From my post just above this one I take it that I should get these parts.

fresh air hose - 06H133583F (Not sure about this part as it wasn't directly mentioned under the parts, part of the quote but was mentioned above in the description field.

These items were list under parts

VALVE - W06H 906 283 B
HOSE - WN 020 353 27
HOSE - W06J 133 241 AB

Sorry, another question why do Audi put the W or WN in front of the part number? is that internal to them? as I noticed when searching the web you have to remove the W to find the part.

the part number i mentioned does mention the a3 8p 2l on this site, but if you notice there is some overlap between models eg. the b8 a4 for both parts, so it could be that it was a simple error.
if you look at the pics, youll notice that while they are similar, there is a big difference between the parts.
dunno which is correct without having a look at the one installed on your car, but id guess its 037906283c.

btw based on the part number on the oem part, the manufacturer is pierburg if you want to get one cheaper elsewhere. found them for about £40 from a reputable company online.
https://www.autodoc.co.uk/pierburg/965445
edit- even they mention the 8p 2l for the 037906283c part number

Going from that I think it's going to be 037906283c part too. I seen the part on ebay and when I select my car model from the drop down list some of the sellers have, it say's not compatible with your vehicle. What I'm going to do is call Audi Parts tomorrow and ask them to confirm the part number.

That’s a huge bill for changing just the valve. If you can’t tackle it yourself there are plenty of Audi specialists out there.
Not helping us much without your whereabouts.

Yeah I know, tell me about it. I'm in North London.

AMD Technik at West Thurrock not too far from you. I use them for any job I won’t tackle myself.
Your engine code looks to be the same as mine CCZA, it’s printed on a sticker by the spare wheel well or in the front of your service book.

I called Audi parts and gave them the part number I was given and asked if it was compatible with my car. The tech looked it up and said that there were 2 part numbers for the solenoid valve. The one I was given by Audi 06H906283B had in brackets that it's for modified cars I think he said, he definitely said modified. The 037906283C is the standard one. I'm not aware of my car being modified in anyway. But, I would guess the Audi tech who diagnosed the problem would have put the right part number.

I'm having a look at the guide samisnake posted (thanks) to see if I might be able to give it a go once I fully look through it and get the parts/tools.

Just a few questions, the guide mentions removing the fuel rail, would I need to do that?

Also would I need all the tools suggested as well, I ask just incase theres standard alternatives, although as I'm a newbie they may be better to get, I'll guess I would be able to get them from Audi if needed? The tools listed are:

T10118 door handle/lock spring tool
V.a.g 1912 hose clip pliers
Socket torx T30 T10347

Also if anybody comes across any videos on YouTube or another site that shows taking the parts of, if you could post that would be much appreciated. I'm having a search aswell.

I've got 10 days to get my mot done.

I had a look in my car and I can just about make out the solenoid valve. It looks like it currently has the part number that samisnake posted. I took a picture and it looks like it's going to be 037906283C from the letter/ numbers I can make out.

Don't need the tools from audi, they're just a t30 socket, hose clamp pliers (regular pliers or water pump pliers do the same job) and a pick tool, I've never used one usually use a thin screwdriver.
Can get the tools anywhere eg. Halfords if needs be

Thabks, Should I just go with the standard solenoid valve as that what appears to be fitted to my vehicle. I dont understand why Audi listed the other one in there quote... maybe because I wasnt going to get the work done at the dealership?

Will I need any replacement clips that I might need to replace?

I'm thinking to order the standard solenoid valve and wondering if it will be difficult to replace the hoses or aswell. I assume it will be better to but just wondering if I need to cut new hoses to length and if the other ends will be easily accessible where ever they connect to.

Go for the same part number you have. One is not better than the other, they are for different cars.

Looking at the picture you posted the hose is attached with a one time use hose clamp. When you take it off I'd replace it with a jubilee clip

I got the part of ebay advertised as new but I would say it appears to be used as it's got some markings on it and some dirt under one of the grooves. My old looks in better condition than the "new" one. I'll post some pics from my phone.

The darker one is the new one, the one on the right in most of the pictures.

How much was it?

£30, not sure if it's worth trying it? I just emailed the seller about it doesn't seem new. I might have to order one from Audi as I have to do my MOT by the end of this week. I just called them to ask how much they said £97 and to order by 2pm if I want to get it for possibly tomorrow. I don't think there will be anywhere else I could get one in the next few days.

£35.74 using the discount code SPRING55
pierburg, so the same company who make the part for audi, for less than half the dealer price

tried to find the listing you won on ebay but couldnt. if the seller listed it as new for that price (used go for about £15) then return it out of principle and get the new one from euros

Thanks, will that one work? as I don't see the part number 037906283C. It looks the same though.

Here is the item number for the ebay listing 192719339933, he had 4 for sale. I'm going to return the part for an refund.

the part number 037906283C is a vag part number. the part is made by pierburg, and audi/vw etc slap their own part number and logo on it, and fit it to their cars and sell it in the parts department.
that part in euros part number is PIERBURG 7.22880.01.0 and if you check it fits your car. basically that part is the same.
i would guess that if you removed the white sticker, youd see some audi/vw logos, as oem companies have to remove the car brand logos when they sell the same part in the aftermarket under their own brand. make sense?

i wouldnt have bought tbh. listing looks mad sketchy. lists 'high quality aftermarket' but the pics show a genuine audi part. that to me would spell fake, but then you get a used one turn up? def send it back

Thanks, that's really interesting to know as I thought you had to get the exact part number Audi gave. You have been a life saver! I appreciate all the info and help.

just thought id add these pics from a russian car forum. https://www.drive2.ru/l/466011511832183818/
once the stickers peeled off, you can see the part is exactly the same as the original, with the same part number. seems theyve gone to extra lengths to cover the vw and audi logos.

I received the part and just fitted it in and put everything back together again, or so I thought. Trying to start the car I get a choke sort of sound and the engine doesn't start. Sort of like when you have an dead battery. I tried twice, but I'm going to grab my vcds to do an scan.
