So Iv'e done a bit of searching and can't really find a decent thread with rough prices of what OP have paid to have there RS3's serviced.

Mine is now due for it's 3rd year and I'm a bit surprised how much Audi is wanting to charge, I mean I know it's an RS3 but just shy of a 1K .... really?

Anyway to start this thread off mine is 3rd year and so requires:

Major service
Oil change
Haldex Oil
Brake Fluid - first at 3 then every 2
DSG and filter change - at 38K, mines at 35k so may aswell add this in
All filters
Spark Plugs

Audi have quoted £932 which as said seems excessive, after not much effort they then offered a 10% discount so final offer of £838.

So is this about right, I mean I dont mind paying it if that's the price but I hate to think I'm being ripped off.

I have called an independent in Leeds and they quoted £630 but would of preferred to keep it with Audi for re-sale and FASH but not sure it's worth the extra £200

I’m no where near you but my dealer price matches independents. Worth asking.

The nearest to me also price matches as long as you have the quote in writing - This is Hull Audi.
 
Is this direct with the dealership then?

I thought Audi you had to deal with a call centre or at least that’s what I’m doing and it’s quite frustrating.

You need to deal directly with the dealership mate
 
Just had ours serviced a year early at 9,000 miles and one year old. Cost was £450.02 at Audi Northampton

So final prices after chatting with dealership but prices were the same as Indy garage really. Just more for the service which they would not budge from so total for 3rd year service - £920

A breakdown:

Major - £465
Brake fluid - £65
Haldex - £116
DSG Oil - £180
Pollen filter - £40
MOT - £55

A bargain :)

Least my 4th year will be a lot cheaper ha

£40 for the pollen filter has got to be the funniest item on there.
 
Why it isn’t included is beyond me, all filters sir, but, no actually it’s £42.30 for your pollen

I don’t have hay feaver so I nearly told her to leave it... £880 may of felt a bit better

Agree, considering it cost me £13 delivered from a vw Audi outfit and took 5 mins to replace:tearsofjoy:

Just had the Haldex oil change on the s3 and that was on offer @ £99 in vat, Rs3 should be the same as I would have thought they use the same oil and same time to do

You’d think so, but as I’ve been told regarding the engine oil change... apparently takes longer on an RS, an hour longer.. £100 or so more!!

I had a quote of £115 for the Haldex so not bad, I think they are covered by fixed servicing though hence the reasonable price. My S Tronic change got knocked down to £156.

Had all of the above done as well as pan roof service & air con sanitation/re-gas for £606 but then again I think it was their way of apologising for a gearbox leak after a supposed fix they had done.

My cars just had an oil service at an independent, he also mentioned Haldex service when I go back in on Thu for 4wheel alignment. Cars done 13k miles. Needed? Had a look there and people have waited 3 years or close on 30k. He’d be charging 98 quid. Thoughts?

Ok I’m tempted to bin it off then at 98 quid. Clearly not required and their way of getting more cash from me. Everywhere else I’ve looked states 3 years like you’ve said. Thanks
 
Car is at 13k, 18months old now and asking for an oil change, I've had it previously independent but didn't reset the car as aiming to keep the main dealer history - it wants the Inspection in a couple of thousand miles so I was thinking 2 birds 1 stone and get the INSP done to cover both now.

Dealer quoted what gets changed ..
Plugs 6yrs or 40k
Filter 4yrs or 60k
Gearbox 38k
Haldex 3yrs

Oil change £398.47
Insp £584.56 (£47 being the pollen filter)

I've now climbed back on my seat .. I asked for £600 aparts from changing the oil/filter what exactly do they do for the other time, given its a good few hours labour time there ;)

Mine won’t be going anywhere near an Audi Dealer for its second service / inspection later this year.

The last oil change for farcical, as they over filled it by 1/2 a litre of oil which I drained off the day after.

Specialist for my second service.

They are far too incompetent in my eyes.

Yes they may be all friendly when selling and showcasing their cars, but the service depts seem to be severely lacking in any knowledge of even a basic service.

7.2 litres of oil is deemed acceptable to fill after draining I was told, even if it does go off the dipstick scale......

The explanation was laughable......

Awesome GTi tomorrow for its first 1 year service £230, I only wanted a oil change but it’s not a lot more for a few more checks.
I’ll get them to check for updates for Apr Stage 2 and I’ve already had the spark plugs change when I did Stage 2.
 
I’m more tempted now to go Independant. If I were buying a car personally as long as its done by a reputable independent (specialist) then it wouldn’t put me off.

Does it really make a difference to Audi?

I mean it’s very unlikely I’d sell back to them anyway given they’ll bend me over on price no doubt.

It would have a negative factor on resale, unless you’re selling to somebody that knows and even with this type of car I’d say that chance is still relatively slim. If I saw “Dave’s Convenient Servicing and Repairs” I’d walk away from one of these, but if it was MRC or Awesome GTI I’d be happy of course. Agree with you, Audi will never give you a justifiable price no matter how you sell back to them whether it be a finance handback, PX or straight sale. With specialist cars like this, chances are in 4 years they’re going to be worth quite a bit more than the GFV if maintained as they should be and a private / specialist buyer will always give more.

For now I’m having mine done at Audi but any extra servicing like an oil change half way between is independent. I’m supplying my own oil, which Audi seem to charge around £120 for but I can get for £60, all adds up.

I think the biggest advantage to using Audi is goodwill and it is well known, mad considering they never want to help in warranty but offer goodwill out of warranty on issues haha. I will likely always extend my warranty, but have started a fresh with a new dealer and even after a couple of visits have managed to get very good discount already. For certain things Audi are cheaper! I had a price for a DSG oil change (having done at half the interval) and my independent quoted £290, just bare bones one hours labour and parts. Audi did it for £156!! All of the ‘fixed’ price servicing like Haldex, DSG sand Spark Plugs etc I think is subsidised by Audi UK. Audi admitted to me it’s competitive to get people through the door and spend money in other areas.

Guess what I’m saying in my long unnecessary dialogue is to compare, because you might be surprised what the dealers can offer when you have a good contact and repeat custom lined up.

It's one of those things I suppose. I mean if I needed any warranty work then it's covered still so what's the issue. I don't see me getting any favours.

Managed a % discount. I will see if they do the price match but as said above I still don't really trust them.

First thing I was told taking another car once was that they would need to unplug the dashcam.... If asked again I'll decline and ask why...

I would not be put off buying s car like this from a enthusiast that as done all his own work with bills and receipts to back up the history.

Me neither to be honest. If anything it shows its better cared for. I still think 10k for an oil change on a motor like this is good maintenance. 15-18k miles is a lot even on today's quality oils

So what other negatives are there to not going Audi. If you get the receipt to show all genuine parts used then warranty should be no issue.

Are the service books online now. I know there are on the Q7 we have.

Good independent's like APS brackley etc can update the service online via Erwin.

But if “Dave’s Convenient Servicing and Repairs” followed the service procedure / used genuine VAG parts / treated you like a valued customer and really looked after your car / you, then why not ?

Instead we have people sticking with Audi dealers that in some cases, lie,screw up simple jobs, damage cars, cannot diagnose warranty faults even when they stare them in the face and generally treat paying customers like something they've stepped in.........

Still don't get this as Audi changed my plugs every 19k. How can different dealers say different things!

A bit ott, but I change my oil and filter every 5k.

After changing my plugs recently (14k) it is more involved than the PFL engine but only by virtue of you have to remove the wiring carrier and unbolt the coil packs.
30-45 mins is plenty of time.
Plugs were £70 odd.

5K (me) 9.5k (Audi and 10% oil free) 14k (me).

I also did the Haldex myself recently.

Next service is going to be at 1 off two independents I’ve read very good things about.
Both can update the schedule online too.

I’m with you there struggling to trust dealers, I am on pins when I leave my car there and to be honest I think they feel the same.

I can rest easy leaving my car with the independent, totally trust them and know that they wouldn’t do anything I wouldn’t. My worst nightmare with dealers is that they take the car on a test drive and boot it when the car is cold, seen it too many times. Quality of the work is hit and miss depending on whether you have a good dealer or not. I struggle to find technicians who genuinely seem interested in the cars, beyond it being a job.

I’ve had the dashcam unplug policy argument before, been told it is because there is secret development in the workshops that customers aren’t to see. No there are technicians f’ing and blinding that they don’t want to see, that’s the only thing being developed haha. Once they unplugged it, but when mine went in next and I kept quiet they left it plugged in. When I reviewed the footage after they changed my exhaust for the revised ‘rattle free’ system, keep in mind the issue is when idling on a cold start. He started the car, it was on a cold start and he revved the nuts off of it for about 30 seconds up to the 4000rpm limit and said “seems ok”, making it pop and bang in the workshop. That really p’d me off, I’d never dream of doing that myself.. but I kept quiet because I felt that was somewhat minor and I’d rather it be plugged in to see if they did anything worse down the line.

My latest dealer, have left the camera plugged in at all times but say they test drive my car when it never leaves the forecourt... I think they’re too scared to.

That’s true, I guess I’m just saying we all need to be wary of where we buy used cars from. If the servicing was from a reputable source then it wouldn’t be an issue.

To be honest I stuck with my dealer for the first service because I just couldn’t decide what to do, I’m about to hit my inspection at 20k (fixed intervals) and I plan on using Audi again. I genuinely don’t know what to think of either, I know that I trust my independent to do a great job and question what Audi do on times. But it seems a shame to take a brand new car away from dealer service history. We’ve just bought a 16 year old A6 Allroad that has full Audi service history, because of the value of the car after much dictation we’ve decided for its next service it will go to the independent but it still seems a shame to throw a life of ‘main dealer’ history away. I suspect this is a silly way of looking at it, but at least with dealer history you know it’s had what’s needed when its wanted it. We bought a 130k Golf last year with full VW history, great peace of mind because you know if it’s needed something the dealer would be first to tell you.

It’s the new DAZA engine, spark plug intervals are now 40k. I was going to change mine at 20k but didn’t make it that far with my rough idle issue, changed them at 17k to see if that would fix it but now onto a suspect coil pack.

Coil packs are £37 each

I’m glad I’m not the only one that changes oil every 5k outside of regular servicing, haha.

I had my Haldex done last month and the oil was in great condition.. came out nice and golden and very very little debris on the filter. I paid an independent because I don’t have any access other than a jack and it’s not something I’d like to do on my back. Plus in my opinion, it’s an extra £75 for peace of mind, they know what they’re looking at to spot issues and it’s another invoice in the folder of which I’ve got a lot already at 18k.

I choose not to have my 5k oil changes updated on the online portal, mainly because Audi don’t need to know.
