so I like my Auto Main Beam, but not a fan of activating it every time I get in the car. On my old SQ5 I was able to set it to always on, but that option seems missing on the S4 with ODB11.

Anyone else found it?

Is it really a big deal having to push the 'auto beam' stalk everytime it gets dark? Not that long ago, folks had to push a switch/lever to switch on the car's headlights in the dark (many still do).

I would like the same option!

It’s not that’s it’s a big deal to switch it on each time, it’s more, why not include an option that once it’s switched on, it stays on (and pull forward on the stall once to disengage auto high beam)? I have a friend with a Jeep Cherokee and his does this exactly, once auto high beam is enabled via the stalk, it stays on even through shutting the car off and on again until you disengage via the stalk.

Because Audi state within the manual that under certain conditions auto main isn't recommended as the camera cannot correctly detect the conditions, especially in fog. Perhaps they are on the side of caution and safety whereas other manufacturers are a tad loose with this which is why there are more complaints of other drivers being dazzled...

I forgot to add that my friends Jeep Cherokee disables the high beams automatically when cars are approaching (camera detects oncoming traffic) and re-enables after they pass.

That is how it should work, some, such as Audi's version, also work in conjunction to the sat nav to adjust the lamps according to where the vehicle is..

Are you saying that if I turn on auto high beams, they will disengage if oncoming traffic is detected? If so, will it automatically re-engage after the traffic passes?

Correct, that's what the "auto" part means :thumbs up:Once forward will engage auto, twice forwards will manually override

Hey, I hadn’t had my coffee yet! Just re-read what I typed and thought, duh!
