I got my aux input fitted for the rnse today. All went well and works a treat. I couldn't justify spending £30+ on the kufatec kit so bought an identical one from china for £6.55. Finding a place for the port was interesting as i wanted it in the arm rest to avoid cutting the centre console, instead it lives in the glove box beside the cd changer. I may upgrade to the centre console trim from the seat exeo at some point but for now it will do just fine.

Alex, got my aux lead in today! A job I've been meaning to do for a while.

Did you require any coding to get the aux to work?

Yeah just a case of adjusting via vcds, all is explained in the pop up tap. Failing that theres a vid on youtube. I believe that you need the have version 650+ update on your RNSE too for it to work

Perfect Alex, many thanks. Yep, I have the latest 2018 maps and upgraded firmware.

I believe it will be a case of selecting 56 Radio or 37 Navigation, then Coding 07 and changing the 6th digit to a 5 to enable the Aux (0xxxx5x).

Another job for my OBDeleven :)

Something along those lines, i believe the digit that you change only supports ami and aux anyway, so happy days. Where have you chosen to locate your socket?

Had a few spare mins this morning so decided to bite the bullet and do a dry test fit to see if my latest alloys fit , well fit over the 18z's .
Normally it is a no go or with a few mm to spare, the last set a week ago that were et45 wouldn't clear the calipers so I wasn't holding my breath this morning as these are ET43.
slid one on carefully and I was gobsmacked , it fits on and clears the caliper with plenty of clearance.
So they are OEM 19" ET43 on 8.5j , that's works out well really as from a poke dimension its et38 and my current rims are Et 35 and the rears do rub sometimes on that , so i'll have a few mm more clearance now with out using spacers etc.
Happy days.

My tune date has been pushed back to 4 April. The shop is getting their new dyno installed and it won’t be installed in time for my session. In the meantime I got my new carbon fiber side skirts finally. It took almost a year to get them. I don’t recommend Kuhlensport or what we he calls his business. It was a lot of run around to finally get these. I still have a lip coming too but, surprise, it’s been lost...

Haven't quite got round to doing it yet Alex. Thinking center console, behind the handbrake in the little storage area.

Will update once finished :)

don't forget about the vent from the VC to the turbo, still need's addressing.

Yeah I was thinking of how to integrate that, would it be better tied in with the flow or return of the can system? I bow to your knowledge on the mater oh mighty Rob! How’s the recaros feeling?

I'm not an expert, far from it, just working on my personal experience on the problem and my own solutions that do work very well.
Half the problem with all off the shelf kit solutions is that they are retaining the basic oem design for emmisions purposes etc just omitting the pcv valve assembly and adding a catch tank.
The latter is fine but the gases from oil separator 1 are still being fed in to oil separator 2 in the valve cover, then passed through the catch tank, which does work to a point but then back into the valve cover and then out back into the turbo, so you'll still have any thing that's passed through the catch tank being dumped back into the turbo , and subsequently back into the air induction , IC 's and etc.
By removing the option of the 2nd oil separator in the vc and venting via a catch tank directly , you're effectively bypassing the VC altogether .

Bit of a good and bad day today, on the plus side this morning I collected the stripped and refurbed 19" alloys and they now look spanking, very pleased.:yahoo:
On the negative side, the wife went out walking the woofers , lost her footing in rabbit hole and twisted her knee, blown up like a balloon now, not good at all and she is really down in the dumps...:sorrow:
I'm in care mode now looking after her, all in the line of duty though.:icon thumright:

piccy's of the alloys...in lovely platinum silver to match my trim on the old bus.

Well crap. Got a call from the tuner and he said the turbo is on its way out. He’s got pictures of it will it’s on the dyno doing a pull. I’ll pick it up on Monday but I don’t know what to do right now. Send it in to get rebuilt maybe but I don’t know who. I don’t want to send it to the US because of wait time but it might be cheaper to do that.

Anyone know of any good turbo rebuild shops on the island?

Ah damnit! Sorry buddy... What engine do you have? You could source a second hand unit - but it might worth biting the bullet and use this unfortunate event to upgrade?

Found my nearside front CV boot has split throwing grease all over the inside disc face amongst other places so not ideal, managed to get the new alloys re-rubbered and fitted and they look nice, so a mixed bag today.
19" lemans do look nice on b7's :icon thumright:

Thanks for the kind words but I’m running and upgraded turbo already. I have to investigate a bit more but it’s not looking good.

Thanks Rob. I’m going to try a few things before I remove the turbo. I hope my hunches are correct.

Any piccys Rob, we like piccys!

yep, will take couple in the morning, need to visit my local GSF for a pair of CV boots kits first.

Sold it - sad day but in the end had to sell my s4 cab. Nice guy private buyer paid close to my 8k asking so pleased it's gone to a good home. Been great spending the last few years tinkering and chatting to you guys on here. Thanks to everyone who's helped with advice along the way. Who knows I may be back one day. Might be an s5 or b8.5 s4 avant next. Need a bigger wagon for the two kids. Options open...

Cheers guys

Well today, I have learned:
1 - How to remove and refit the glove-box
2 - How to check the servos on the climate control on the passenger side
3 - How to remove and refit the battery
4 - The central locking doesn't work and the airbag light comes on if you disconnect the battery!

On a positive note, the passenger side climate control works and I have deduced that the driver side heat control servo ist kaput.

So I haven't actually 'done' anything to my A4 today.....apart from f*ck up the locking system!

You need to re sync the key to the car every time you disconnect the battery, takes a minute to do, job done.

Yep, sorted now Rob.

I did this:

- Push the remote button for unlock.

- Stick the key in the ignition and turn it on.

- Turn the ignition off and pull the key out.

- Press the unlock on the key and then the lock.

I do have a couple of slight problem though (and I can't remember if it was the same on my old B7) but I have to press the open button twice for all the locks to unlock and the windows don't close on the key either (holding down the lock button on the fob) - pretty sure that did happen on my old B7!

Managed to get time to give the old bus a wash , looks half tidy for a 13 years old bus , very pleased with the alloys too.
probably it now for exterior mods, and not fully decided on a caliper upgrade at the moment.
Recaro's are brill and the FBSW feels great.

so a couple of pics of my humble old bus, no the best pics but you'll get the idea.

I gave my Avant some love today in the form of service ahead of my holiday next week. Only opted for the oil and filters as its not yet due a cambelt w/pump. I used Elf 5w-40 oil for a couple of reasons; it was free, its 5w-40 over 5w-30 and the technical specs prove to be better than what Castrol and Mobil have to offer. Time will tell how good it proves to be. Also chose a k&n panel filter over the original paper style. Now just waiting on the new plugs as i ordered the wrong ones!

All in all a rather productive afternoon for a change!
