Hi all,

Been sifting through the new s5 forum and there’s a lot of talk about exhaust valve unplugs and if back box deletes make any difference etc

But... has anyone actually changed out the stock exhaust on a b9 S5 on here? Obviously YouTube has loads of sound clips but I’m not going to go and whack £2k plus down on something I’ve not heard or had a direct chat with someone about first .

Got quoted £2500 for a Milltek and list price of AWE touring and Switchpath are much more than that. Plus I’m curious as to how it is that with a much more free flowing exhaust, manufacturers like AWE can “guarantee” no CEL.

Be interested to hear from anyone that’s got a link to another thread or done it themselves.

Thanks!!

Everyone has their own ideas and wallet size, but for me I'd think £2,500 to switch out something that is perfectly working just to get a bit of a different noise and maybe a few more bhp is crazy. I'd much rather pay £2,500 and take my wife on a nice holiday and make some memories!

That’s not bad at all! Few questions then if I may...
Where did you get it done?
Is that a valved exhaust?
And have you had any comment from Audi when it’s gone in for service or anything ?

Unit 20.
Yes valves so still works with the driving modes.
Was in 3 weeks ago for service Audi tech came outside when I was leaving and asked me to nail it when I drive off! He said some of the big bosses put aftermarket exhausts on RS6s. They wont ignore a tuning box though so took that off before it went in. I'm located in the north west.

That’s my kind of tech guy :smile new: The tips look good in the pic and just been googling M20 which looks good too!

What’s the exhaust like for drone at 70ish? And I take it having it fitted hasn’t thrown any fault codes or that?

Unit 20 is a great set up. Martin the owner is a cracking bloke.
The drone is more than standard but not bad at all. At a steady cruise it's barely different its when under load you notice it more.
If you were close you could come and gave a listen/go

All sounds pretty good so far! Tbh I’m about a month or two away from having the funds due to getting married but being a regular in Manchester I might ping you a message at some point about getting a listen :icon thumright:

Like SimonWhite2000 I have had a Milltek non res catback fitted with 4" tips. This is one of the best mods I have done. The car now sounds like it should as the stock system IMHO sounds cr*p compared to the Milltek system. With this I also fitted a manual exhaust valve switch so I can have the valves on auto, always open, or always closed. Always open turns heads in the high street :whistle2:

Think I saw Milltek have something where you can use the ESC switch to flip between the modes you mention?
