Out of the blue today, my A3 (1.6 petrol 2008 8P) started running lumpy and juddering at low speed. Engine light came on, joined with the ABS light..

Called RAC who confirmed it was an intermittent fault and that the coil pack, HD leads and spark plugs would need replacing.

There are a few guides for replacing coil packs but not for the 1.6 8P... There's plenty of gubbings in the way of the ignition coil so before i go taking things out... Is there anyone with a guide?

The ignition coil i have looks like this one (old style block version)

Cheers!

Never seen a 1.6 Audi engine but it should be a simple unscrew the fittings and refit the new one. Do remember the ht lead connections, label them up to be sure.

Not quite as planned, replaced spark plug and one has rusted, currently soaking in WD40 for tomorrow.. Also took the injector rail out at the same time for a clean.

For the coil pack, just needed to take the bracket out for the secondary air pump for access.
