SQ5 2018 SQ5

Had mine about 8 months now... great car but front PDC has failed. Apparently because one sensor on the front had 3 tiny little marks. Are sensors really that fragile, especially on the front!?

Is it easy to remove the bumper / side grille so I can replace the sensor myself?

What is the PDC and what does it do..

No they pushed it back because of the chips on the sensor. not covered by warranty hence why I'll do it and save myself the ridiculous £400 they quoted

Anyone done the oil service?

10k miles and 19 months of ownership and it’s just popped up I need it done in 30 days.

I’ll prob shop around a few dealers so any cost experience welcome.

Thanks

Yours will probably be a bit more than mine, as only have 2.0 TFSI Q5, but cost me £180 @10k, bit ended up buying service plan that covered that service and the next inspection for £425.

I need to sort mine in next 4 weeks. I expect £350 plus but will be shopping around for best price. Mine is also 18.5 months old and on 18k miles...

How much for an Audi dealer oil change..£350....what..to replace the oil filter and the screw that always seem to charge £1.50 for!!!might go elsewhere..

There is a little bit more to the oil service than that, and they tend to extract the oil through the dipstick hole these days. If you search the forum there is much to be learned about oil services and cost...

Picking this up in the coming few days, was a dealer order but I saw it getting detailed and made the deal on the spot.
Still got my RS3 for Sunday drives lol.

Looks great. Hope you got a good deal! What options did it have and will it be a 19 plate..

Yeh MY19, in Australia they package up the options a bit. Great deal but I buy a car off this dealer every year so they know!

Technik, package, Matrix, B&O, Air suspension, Privacy glass, Panoramic roof, 21 alloys.

So far ordered lowering links, BMC filter, genuine puddle lights, paddle extensions and 034 Motorsport mount.

So I have booked my car in for the interim service (oil change) and it’s going to be £246.46 inc VAT which isn’t too bad I guess.

Sounds like a general inspection and then filter and a few bottles of oil. Gets a clean too.

Couple of recalls / updates: one for electric tailgate and another for window regulators, so they want the car for a full day, but get a loan car.

Not too bad, as I said earlier in thread, my 2.0 Q5 was £180, and they also did the window regulators (tailgate was down when summer/winters were swapped back in Nov)

If you value your paintwork don't let them clean it...

My paintwork is screwed. Car has been cleaned maybe 4 times in 18 months. Twice by me, very carefully, twice by a local valet firm who are also very careful.

It was the same with the Navarra Blue S3s I had. They seem to have very soft clear coat and in the sunshine the marks are highlighted by the paint.

In fairness it hasn’t had a wax since last July but it looks like it was cleaned with sandpaper.

:(

Interim service costs, continued....

I thought I would get a quote from a dealer closer to where I work as I thought it would be easy to drop the car and go to work and then collect it in the evening.

So, bearing in mind I have been quoted £246 already and been told ‘it’s just an oil and filter change’ I was just quoted £382....!!

Both are large Audi dealers. Justification of the second quote was that I would get an Audi technician and their Labour rate was £222 an hour.

Bonkers.

This type of work should be a set price across all Audi dealers.

Unfortunately how careful a valeting company, or yourself, might be you will get swirls and scratches, especially so if it hasn't had a protective coating applied. I suggest you head over to the detailing forum and look through some of the threads there https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/forums/detailing.116/
Cars come from new with paint issues anyway and the dealership valeters don't help either...

But if you aren’t worried about paint condition and scratches etc, then get them to wash

You had better tell me who quoted £246 ...

Watford Audi want £515.77!!! They want £401.25 for my other half's A3 1.5TFSi. Both first service, 19k miles, variable service intervals....

Yep. Will ring a few others until I find one who is reasonable. Happy to have it done whilst visiting my Mum up North if its cheaper! I could always have a day out in Tetbury to save a couple of hundred quid...

Audi dealers are supposed to price match, so surely you could get a “reasonable” quote and then show to Watford?

That was my plan but a lengthy period on hold whilst they transferred me to a call centre - and then gave me a joke of a price. Think I will go elsewhere and let a decent place have my money. After all I went all the way to Hull to buy it!

To clarify, my prices are for the interim service (just an oil change). Those prices sound like the first main service where they do ever so slightly more?

Tetbury isn’t far for me but I’ll be going to Bath. They are really good and keenly priced, it would seem!

Fair enough. I just emailed the Service Manager asking for a price, and told him to make sure it was a decent one

Good that you are sorted

Are you on fixed or variable service intervals? My price is for first visit - but on variable service intervals (so 19k miles max it seems).

It still seems to be described as an oil and filter change..... will ring a couple more places today and ask Audi what the difference is between a first service on fixed and variable service regimes....

I wonder if you are getting the major service and an oil change of your mileage is higher.

I’d definitely clarify exactly which one you need and are getting as those prices are daft for just an oil service.

I’m actually quite shocked that Audi allow this to happen. The price differences for the same work are incredible and will hurt customer loyalty if it gets out.

I’m on variable. I have had the car 18 months and just done 10k miles and it’s said that I need an oil service in 25 days.

Looks like a day out in Bath then!!

Hats off to Bath Audi who provided an exemplary service, on time and to the price quoted and with an excellent loan car whilst my SQ5 was in for its first interim service - all for £243!

Highly recommended to any of you in the West Country.

Dan

Your car is on variable service intervals isnt it? first service at 19 months rather than 12 months? but only 10k miles? so could be a fixed interval service if that doesnt have a time element too?

At 243 quid i could stay overnight in a nice hotel and still be cheaper than the 515 I have been quoted for variable interval service....

I think it’s variable, so not based specifically on either mileage or time but a bit of both and type of driving. Mine is long motorway and also short trips in town.

Interestingly after this interim the next service (full) is showing as 365 days or 9400 miles.

To confirm it got a visual check and a report on tyre wear and alignment. An oil and filter change. And that was it.

It does annoy me that Audi don’t control their dealers better. If I found out I had paid twice what I could have I’d feel properly ripped off.

Go to Bath, stay in a nice hotel, enjoy loan car.

The 365 days suggests fixed interval annual service regime?
