The squeaky bum moment when you get to Awesome for a health check on your new car and 2 people are looking at it and pointing....

Hmmmm...
In addition to the Haldex Pump failing. Both rear calipers have seized and the evap canister needs replacing.
The brakes discs have a lip on them too.
The garage seems uninterested. I ve rung the warrenty company and im hoping theyll cover the pump and calipers.

If you don’t mind me asking mate, where did you by it from?

Auto Prestige in Bradford.

Im annoyed beyond belief. Theyve said the dont feel that they should have to repair it because they gave me strong money on my PX. This was the salesman though and not the owner. He said we can reverse the deal if i wished. I dont, i want the car ive bought. I just want it right.

Doesn’t surprise me about Bradford...

To be honest I had the same issue with my RS3 I bought it from Stratstone BMW in Leeds. They were willing to Reverse the deal but after weeks of arguing I manage to get it fixed. But I’m hind sights I should of just given it back and found another...

Good luck pal.

Yeahhh... I had the same thought myself. But I tried not be judgemental and gave a garage with really good reviews a chance. I should stick to being judgemental as its now back firing. Im of the same thinking with looking for another. But they did give me a good P/X price which leaves me anything between £1000-£2000 short to find another. Thats making me think to trench down and start threatening the Sale of Goods Act and Consumer Right Act. Also, the fact that car also has a new MOT which suggests the MOT station didnt notice or even check the caliper issue may also incriminate them too.

To be honest mate stick to your guns, I was lucky that I had my issues rectified but still wasnt happy in the first place.

I’d do it, as you can prove it was an issue with the car when you bought it. If it was MOT’d somewhere near to the garage you bought it from then it wouldn’t surprise me. You can get the address from the MOT history website online.

The owner has again offered me a refund. With a bit of negotiation hes offered to pay for the Haldex pump and 1 caliper. Im fortunate that i know people in the trade so i can get them much cheaper than Audi/Awesome. So im tempted to go with that and just get it done.

As long as you are confident that Awesome have found the big things then fair enough but just maybe get them to check everything...

They spent an hour going over it. It was already booked in before id picked the car up, for a health check.
The Tech has worked on my previous 4 cars and he knows what im like. The discs will need doing too at some point, but thats the norm on any car. Ive managed to get the Evap canister quoted much cheaper too. So im getting there.

So.. Just got off the phone to the owner. He's a very 'charming' man. Apparently asking for a car to be roadworthy and correct is now no longer a thing and a used car will never be new car no matter how much i complain. Hes a complete ****** and its a very good thing that im 35 miles away from the garage otherwise id have folded him up.

So basically ive got the option of £500 or take the car back.

Its better than nothing. Ive taken that. My 6R now has pics up too. The old girls still looks the part. Although the description is a bit of a fib.

I inspected the car and drove it. The quattro system was working when i left the garage and became a problem the day after. The caliper issue was picked up after a health check. There is no scoring on the discs that would suggest the calipers are seized. The issue was noticed because the wheels didnt move freely when the car was up in the air.

the most common fault with the haldex is not changing the filter. in the audi repair manual its states lifetime filter. thats BS. filter fails and then pump eventually fails. i would check both the pump screen and replace the filter and then see what happens

Thanks buddy. I did exactly that when the haldex was replaced. I had a haldex service too and had them change the filter as part of the service. Bit of a crap design arent they? Its interesting that i was at Awesome on 3 different occasions this week and all 3 days had another customer with the same problem. Yet never had a problem with the 6R haldex and that was pushing 88k when i swapped it in.

Hopefully itl be the end of the haldex issues now in my ownership.

because dealer can only stamp a service book, they don't actually service cars under plan.. this is my findings on every car I've owned or had to look after.
