I tend to do a couple of these a year, have two booked so far for this year

Calais to Carnac place in south Brittany at Easter , route looks easy enough with plenty of motorway type cruise control driving .
Route takes me close to le man so may swing past and see what I can see

Later in the year I’ll be driving to lake Garda in Italy , going via Luxembourg for cheap fuel then heading over to Munich for a night .

Ultimately ending up some where in the Austrian alps in between Salzburg a d Vienna for a few days

The car prep has started full service coming up, good a good price on a pipercross element air filter so that’s going in , then I can get the R8 coil packs at a good deal on trade , as I have no history of them been done I might as well do them

Any one have any suggestions of places to visit near any of the above

Sounds great Rich, I fancy doing a road trip or two myself this year. Not sure where yet though.
I'd like to do one of the 4-5 day rally type things across Europe, they look fun!

Been down to Garda twice now via Luxembourg as you are doing, lovely place & will def go there again. Were just doing Scotland this year untill all this brexit rubbish dies down. Fu**ing French border guards have started already!!!.

Yeah we love a good road trip
Do them most years , and have been for the last 7 years , mainly to Italy and Spain

Yeah I’m sure there will be some holdups at the ferry terminals but to be honest for a car I can’t see it been much worse than it is normally during the summer months .
We tend to book the ferries for the quiet periods and never have too much of a delay getting through

Last year when we went was when the news were broadcasting that it was taking three hours to get through border control, we arrived at 4am expecting some delays but ended up on an earlier crossing and were in France by the time our original ferry had left Dover .

Loved the run over in 2017 with my bmw friends. Yes I know I also and a z3 owner. Something about driving through Switzerland with the roofs down. I would recommend to anyone a run through the Swiss alpine passes. Don’t take the auto route tunnels. Go over the top. It’s amazing. But make sure the passes are open and free from snow. Even early June might still see them closed.

Enjoy those runs of yours and watch out for the newer bollard shaped speed cameras. No warning and at the side of the road. In Holland they even have a few in wheelie bins in built up areas. Really nasty if you ask me.

Yes when in the alps I tend to go over the top rather than under

Have done
St bernand pass- very strange experience Swiss side no safety barriers at all just massive drops cross the non existent border to Italy a d they have barriers made of wood!
Lovely road though , original Italian job opening scenes were filmed on it and at the top is a breeding Center for st Bernard’s
Followed a right old boy up some of the way in an f40 but he drove it mine miss daisy

Gotthard pass from Italy in to Switzerland , a lovely cafe at the top doing smoked sausages

Plus one from Austria in to Italy but I can’t renember the name right now

It is one I would recommend everybody to do at least once. 25c at ground level and a snowball fight on the lake edge at the top. Yes we should have grown up but why the hell should be. Ages were early 20’s to mid 70’s and everybody had fun.

Skip through to about 09.20 for some great drone footage of our trip.

My road trip is less than ten days away , nothing overly interesting this time just a quick blast down to Brittany

Told the mrs to pack light , she doesn’t know I’ll be taking my detailing stuff with me for when they are sat chilling !

Just passed the mot with no major isuues although I do need a new rear number plate
