Hi,

I'm not getting any water from my S3 rear wiper jets, fronts & headlights work fine. I've checked the jets and they are clear.

On my old 8L's I had the pipe that feed the rear pop apart at joints in the engine bay and the boot behind the subwoofer along with the well know issues with the pipe coming away from the motor itself.

Are there similar faults on the 8V that affect the water supply to the jets?

Thanks

Steve

I know from my previously BMW that some washer fluids wouldn't work properly and cut the rear wiper jets off. Have you tried changing the washer fluid to another brand?

Cheap fluid can congeal and block the pipe if it sits there for enough time, happened with my A3. I only use VW's washer fluid now and have been for a number of years with no issues.

I use halfords concentrated fluid, watered down to 4:1.

Pull the plastic cover off the rear arm at the base, carefully. Then you’ll see the plastic jets, pull that off the nipple. Take it in doors and blow it out, or poke it with a needle.

I had this a few months ago & the Dealer had to fit a new nozzle part. It wasn’t expensive but does suggest it’s prone to getting clogged up or needing replacement. I tried unblocking etc to no avail.

Always gets blocked, you can either replace the little jet part (about £4 off ebay) or clean it out with a fine needle, some water and blowing into it

I cleared mine just last week as it was blocked.

I've used Halfords screen wash on all my previous VW Golfs and my current A3 and never had a problem with blocked jets, front or rear.

Thanks, I removed the jet and cleaned it out. Doing it whilst fitted to the car had no effect so removing it is defiantly required.
I'm going through screen wash quickly so with have a leak somewhere or am enjoying being able to wash the rear screen again too much :-D

I had a screenwash leak at the headlight washers so have a look there. I was losing about 1-2 litres a day.

Thanks, was it noticeable by a puddle on the floor?
How did you fix it?

It was a warranty job. Car was a few weeks old.

Thats quite obvious! I'll try washing the lights with the car stationary to see if i have something similar. Thanks

Had exactly the same issue when I bought mine, replaced during the service, not impressed with it though, seems a ridiculously bad design.

I removed the cover and then the plastic jet holder pulls off. Blow it back with a gas refil aerosol. one of the nozzels will be a good fit. Do this in the open air away from any source of flame and over spraying will cause icing up so don't overdo it. wash out any gunge and replace.

Mine used to block but I changed to the VW blue screen wash concentrate - dilute as needed, and haven’t yet had a problem since using it.

I'm using the Mercedes screen wash left over from my last car. I don't mix up a particularly strong solution - probably 10%. Every time I clean the jet I pull it off and use the washer to push plenty of mixture through the pipework so I know it's not gunge in the pipework. It always looks to me the jet is blocked with road dirt.
