Picked up new A1 yesterday, but cannot see the Audi Connect section - to set up key user etc -in the MMI.

Dealer 'registered' the car with the service yesterday, and while I guess there's probably a few new vehicles going through the system, I wouldn't have thought it would take that long to register the car on the network.

From memory the SQ5 too a few days to get registered, but there was a s/w issue with those cars, but was really easy one it appeared to be connected.

Anyone else with a new A1 who has got connected?

Is there anyway to validate the car's SIM/data connection?

We haven't got the tech pack BTW.

To my knowledge Audi connect only comes with the tech package you might have been misinformed by the dealer

@GroundZeroUK You're right, the full Connect -Weather, news, etc. - does come only in the Tech pack, but all I am looking to do is link up with MyAudi so I can use the app to check location and if its locked, etc., which is standard.

If you don't have the Audi Connect option, or the connection manager, then I doubt if there is anyway you can set this up. What does the manual state?

Its’s not me, it’s you.
After a couple of call to Audi UK customer service it turns out I (the car) needs a software reset at the dealer. There should be a ‘Key User’ option under the users section but there isn’t! They have sent me a reset for the Audi lads to use when I take it in.
Without the full ‘Connect’ package you can still use the app to locate, lock and get status of the car remotely. When it works!
Bit miffed as we live 30 miles from dealer and their ‘specialist’ who was supposed to have set it up may (no direct blame here) have fudged it. Should have done it myself as I did on SQ5 with no trouble.

Actually quite nice the A1 has the same SOS and breakdown buttons in the headlining as the SQ5, so I guess the connect bits use the same SIM/data connection.

Hopefully then you'll get it sorted and everything should work ok..

Hi, Pick up my A1 last week, never had an Audi before so not sure how the Audi Connect works. I have the Tech pack, should that come with a sim card fitted as standard in the glove box slot.
Thanks.

Wife picked her A1 up on Friday & salesman set this up on her phone, car doesn’t have tech pack.

The Sim card is embedded not in the slot. The slot is for another Sim card if you wish to use it as a WiFi access point and for other data. You can buy in to data for the embedded card but it isn't the cheapest way to do it...

So via the myaudi app you can see the status of doors, windows, boot & bonnet locked/unlocked, how much fuel is in the tank. Current mileage, days to next service & any vehicle alerts. No tech pack.
View button on MFSW doesn’t do anything as for Tech pack cars only & also there’s only two options on the * button, media devices or turn on/off traffic announcements.

For non connect options, such as vehicle details, lock unlock doors, oil levels etc it uses the SOS Sim withing the SOS module. This has to be seperate from the MMI embedded Sim..

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I thought that embedded sim in the tech pack gave you free data? When I try to register as the key user all I get is service not available. any help would be appreciated.

The free data is only for the connect services, such as Google Earth, news and weather etc, not for Amazon Music or any other streaming.
I guess your car has SOS, yes?

You have gone into the MyAudi website, registered yourself, then your car, with it's VIN, then it generates a PIN number to connect the MMI to the Connect services through the connection manager.

All sorted now servers were down so could not log into myAudi. Logged in entered password, code that came with the key that generated a pin put that in and bingo.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi weegee - glad to hear you got it sorted. I had the same issue, had to take the car back to the dealer so they could reset a module before it allowed me to set up the Key User.

Hi, what model have you got, and what do you think of it?

We’ve got an S-line 30.
Great little car. Considering the 3-cylinder 1.0 engine, it goes ok. Handling is reasonable although ride a little harsh at times. Seats and equipment pretty good too. We’ve gone for the B&O which we think is worth it.
